what... no gold?

you know, its really strange that ive never found any type of gold coin. i have found everything else and i mean everything else - but a gold coin. i suppose that lady luck may have turned her back on me. or maybe i have actually found one or more but ignored the signal because it sounded like a low junk grunt. oftentimes gold comes in at the low end of the metals spectrum and its easy to disregard it as just another junk beep. you can believe that i spend a lot more time nowadays paying more attention to those low beeps. ive noticed in 10 -14 kt. gold rings [with a higher copper content] the beeps are higher on the scale, and the more pure the gold the lower the beeps. every hunt i go on, theres a voice dwelling in the back of my mind saying," you hafta find a gold piece today. reach the top pinnacle of your hobby. todays the day." so im still trying. feel free to comment, as knowledge is power. hh,

Hello !

I think most US gold coins will induce a MEDIUM tone.

It is true that gold rings can be overlooked because of signals at the low end of disc scale, but it is alas the price to pay.

The most successful hunters do dig EVERY signal. (Ask nugget !) and come home with more finds than any of their companions.

From all the posts I have read the last few weeks, the folks that dig everything are the ones who get the most. Look at :pulltab:dog, he posts his garabage, yet the next day he pulls a diamond ring out of a clump. I am leaning towards digging everything.

I use to get agitated everytime I labored over yet another 10 minute mini-excavation only to come up with a pop tab. Some old timer type offered me the advice I now live by. Only discriminate out iron and dig everything else. He said if I could not stand it dig at least 50 pop tabs before I started notching again. Pull tab 61 turned out to be a men's 10k ring with three diamonds [small stones]. Cheap ring, but priceless life lesson for me. These days I count the pop tabs till my next ring and smile. Each tab brings me closer to gold.
