Ok i am new to the *sport* if you want to call it and i think by the looks of things i am really interested. I am looking for a metal detector that will work in water, say maybe 1.5m or below without breaking obviously. Also beaches will definately be my priority as that is all i will really go to. Any suggestions on a low budget good value machine which can do the things i want it too, will be greatly appreciated
Thanks.:clapping:

If we knew what your budget is it would be helpful, but really only whether to tell you to buy new or look for a good used machine. If you are new to this and want a waterproof machine and are on a limited budget then I would suggest looking at the Whites Beach Hunter ID and the Head Hunter vlf units. I have never used either of these units but people here who use them speak highly of them. They will cost somewhere around $700 to $800 US I'm guessing. There are some sponsors here who sell them so I would look to them. But first I use the search function here and do some reading. Just type in something like "low budget salt water detector" or something and see what comes up. Usually you will find lots you can read that will be of great help. Minelab also makes a great unit for around the price I told you but it's not waterproof except for the coil. But it's a great wet salt sand beach unit. There are others as well as pulse induction units but if you're just starting out I would not advise you to go that route. They don't discriminate but some say they learn to recognize some differences in the sounds. It would be very discouraging for a beginner. Anyway, best of luck.

You may wish to try a used Fisher 1280-X which could cost less than $400...

Never mind i now feel like a tight bas**rd , maybe ill forget the idea of waterproof lol. My parents are probably willing to spend $360 seeing as i am new and my dad believes that anythnig above $100 are all the same because he is juat compeltly ignorant and tight.
Any good quality machines in that price range that will get the job done well.?
Also ill raise maybe another $100-200 more
cheers :nopity:

Look at a beachhunter id or a tesoro machine. Are you in fresh water or salt water?
