I am also on SSI also, and have time to hunt at a moments notice on most occasions, but housework and running around for groceries and such get in the way sometimes as I do not drive and have to bus everywhere...
Some time in the next few months, the Land Star is going back to First Texas to be re-tuned again...hopefully they will get it right this time...:detecting:

HH,

My kids and chores keep me busy most of the time. My husband works so our MDing schedule is based on his job and the kids schedules. We usually get out a few times a week for an hour or so a time. Wish I could hunt from sun-up to sun-down though. and yes my kids think I am dork for loving this hobby but when I bring something home they like they always ask to keep it lol . the girls usually want the jewelry, oldest son wants the pocket knives and such and the youngest goes straight for the hot wheels. lol

Hi Waltship I live in Missouri,, I'm kinda simi-retired,, I drive a Redi-Mix truck about 20 to 25 hours a week, I go on a hunt any time the weather permits
right now the weather has'nt been much help, wanted to go to day but it's only about 47 degrees an misty,, rain don't usely let that stop me (I put a 1 Gal Bagie over my qd II controls an do it LOL)
but the my boss had things for me to do around the house  well I'm the boss here as long as I do what she says

Hey Waltship, I am the Director of Safety and Security at our hospital here in Ithaca NY. I'm lucky if I get out on a hunt a couple hours a week. My youngest daughter is in just about every after school program they have and my wife also works full time at the same hospital I work at. We have 5 adult children 4 of whom are married and one still in college and in total we have 7 grand kids so we stay pretty busy most of the time. Maybe if I ever get to retire in about 15 years I will have the freedom to go swing my detector at will. I did get some good news today, my brother-in-law just went out on a whim and bought his first machine so now I have someone to go hunting with! I was just tickled over that, boy I can't wait till it warms up!:please:

Rick

That's great news Oakman. I got some bad news this Christmas. My wife wants to start huntin with me. She says "I don't spend enough time with her". I thought 18 hours a day was enough.

Waltship! OMG! Thats so funny............a.......I mean I'm not laughing at you............... I'm laughing with you........I think.

Rick

hi all, i'm a union millwright. like many other areas of my life, i have to make time to detect. thanks, and hh!

Just retired and hope to get out a lot.....like some of the rest....if my other boss lets me.....T2 & BH TR

OK, hold the tomatoes and rotten fruit! :rage: I am a field claims supervisor for 16 adjusters. 90% homeowners and 10% bodily injury. Not exactly what I chose to do when I got out of school but I've been doing it for 31 years and the last 25 with the same company. The main perk is working from my home and having time to "slip-off" when I get the urge to MD!

Great thread walt! It was getting a lil' drowsy in here. I'm a locomotive engineer in the midwest. I get to scope out almost 400 miles of prime MDing real estate across two states. Now i just need to find the time to hit all these spots!

well I'm a cop but don't hold that against me . just bought my first detector bh qd 2 haven't used it yet I'm off the next 3 days but weather is cold and wet . so if I ever find anything I will let you know

bossman , can't hold that against you. Three of my friends are police here in the town I live in. We just lost our chief of police. Maybe you heard about it. Paul Sturgill was his name. I'm tryin to get the postmaster to go with me. Just think of the places he might be able to get to hunt. He knows a lot more people than I do. And to JJ , hang that detector on the side of your engine as you go down the track, but have a fast ear.

Oh yeah, I was a custodian at a school for 18 years and before that I worked at the Norwood Ohio GM plant. Before that 2 years in army with one tour Vietnam.
Before that I was a dumb kid, now I'm a dumb old man with a detector.<img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_6_7.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D26%252F26_6_7%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif">

Everybody enjoy.

I am a corporate trainer for Nike and work at the world campus located in Beaverton, Oregon. My job is to teach managers how to be better managers. Between the winter weather and work schedule I haven't been able to get out as much as I'd like. I did manage to get out last week but with the melting snow and cold wet ground it was a bit uncomfortable. I've had great success and fun with the Pioneer 202/QDII and the past 8 months I've been learning and really enjoying the Time Ranger. Really looking forward to spring and another season of hunting.

I work in a welding and fabrication shop for offshore and onshore gas and oil production.
We build platforms and the piping on them...6 to 7 days a week, leaves little time for MDing.
but i do try hard to make time..lol

hi dirt jockey,, i know you must be in grate demand lot of bad managers out there,, make sure you teach them People skills most of the young managers have none at all LOL

Well I'm a real estate invester, I buy homes and land and fix them up to sell. I do rent some homes to keep the cash flow coming in. That leaves me alittle time to go detecting when I need to get away from all the fixing up. Happy Hunting !!!

Cool thread,I am a service technician.I repair commercial coffee equipment in the Los Angeles area.Just got back into MD,
I'm waiting for my Fisher F5 and Bounty Hunter 505---Bogo sale from kellyco

I'm a self-employed radioman. I sell, install, and service communications mobiles, bases and hilltop repeaters. My job takes me to locations where I can sometimes find an hour or two for detecting.
This year I want to dabble a bit in gold prospecting. Fun thread......thanks.

Hi All --
