hi everone im looking to get a better pouch i like the looks of this on on feebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Treasure-Elite-Metal-Detector-Pouch-Tesoro-Model-/230912821907?pt=US_Metal_Detector_Accessories&hash=item35c37a0a93 but im kind of looking for one that does not have a belt attached would rather have one to use with my old leather belt so any ideas would be appreciated thanks hh
$3.99 2 pocket garden pouch from any hardware store. Buy a couple of cheap clips(like for a key ring), tie the strings to those and clip to your belt loops. Extremely cheap, easy to clip on and washable. But hey, if you want to spend $40 plus, more power to you.
Hi,
Depends where I hunt.
For detecting I have a military ALICE harness and can attach various bags to suit the need along my ProPointer sheath and a canteen.
Military surplus items are very well made and priced extremely competitive(not to use the word cheap - because they are high quality)
At the beach a pouch with a tight net bottom is better, because the sand can fall out.
I do not like zippers since they usually jam when you least expect it and are a pain in the butt to replace. Snaps are way better in this regard.
For the price of the article in the link in the first post, I could outfit 2 people with military gear, including canteens.
Just the way I do it

I used to buy a leather nail pouch at the lumber yard every couple of years $10-12........ just plain wore them out. This SunRay pouch will out live me, no doubt about it. Quality.....
I just use a carpenters single pouch on its own belt carried on my side. Hand digger goes in the deep one, junk and clad into the shallow and deep pouches, pinpointer around back in its sheath and good old coins in my pocket.
Carpenters cloth pouch. For running and gunning totlots and sports fields, in and out of the truck 20 times, its fast to fill and fast to dump. I was thinking of putting some velcro on the strings to speed up the process, but hey, I never did like wearing a heavy leather pouch even when I was a carpenter.

I thought about the Sun Ray pouch; still using a 2-pocket apron that I found. It does what I need most of the time unless I find big trash. Though I am looking for a good finds pouch for water hunting, both in and around the water, so a mesh bottom will be needed for that. I don't mind spending the money on something that is going to last a long time, I just can't justify spending a lot on something that's going to fall apart though. Suggestions for a water-finds bag are appreciated though.
Sunray pouch says you can either get left side or right side, it says has 2 pvc holders ! So it doesn't matter what side ya get does it ? I can only think the pvc holders ( 1 ) on each side of the pouch ?
Have you tried a shooting vest? I use one with netting, and it doesn't get too hot. One pocket for finds. One pocket for trash. More pockets for whatever. Plus you have a game bag on the bag for a lunch, batteries, water bottle, folding shovel, or whatever you want to stuff in it. I'll post a picture later if you are interested. :coastgaurd:
I've been using the Sun Ray pouch for right at a decade. Still 100% functional, has held it's form, the pockets seal tight, and it is ready day in and day out. Tougher than nails and other sharp pieces of metal detecting trash.
