What kind of sealant do I use for my GT S-12 coil cover??

I have the Sunray S-12 coil on my GT. I was detecting the other day and was receiving alot of false signals. I took the coil cover off and sure enough, there was some dirt floating around there causing the false signals. I have heard of people applying some kind of sealant around the edges of the coil cover to prevent this problem. What specific kind of sealant do I use? Thanks, Bryan

iv always had sand under the coil cover and never had false signals from that.just if i run the sensitivity too high.about 11 Oclock is about all i can run my sen ,with or without a cover..but some people fill the coil cover about 1/2 full of Marine Silicone Seal then press coil cover on coil letting it squeez out then clean off the excess.keep in mind this will trap water in as well as sand out.iv got 3 Sovereing's 2 with S12 and 1 with the WOT....never have sealed them.good luck.

Any brand of clear silicone adhesive sealant will do the job. Clean and dry the coil and the coil cover
good first ;then put the coil cover on; apply a bead of silicone around the crack and smooth it out with
your finger, wipe off the excess with a wet paper towel and let dry. If done this way you can still remove
the coil cover if you need to.
