What kind of pouch, bag, sheath does everyone carry?

I'm just curious. I don't have a pouch such as the Garrett belt bag (that has room for the diggers, pin pointer, finds pouch and such) and I'm curious if you might have alternatives that work well. Anything home-made that works? At the moment I usually just slide my digger into the back pocket of my carpenter jeans. I use the belt pouch that came with my pin pointer and whatever I find goes in my right front pocket or the front pocket on my hooded sweatshirt. I've thought about a carpenters leather tool pouch but I'm not so sure it wouldn't be cumbersome. For the most part I hunt areas where I find coins, trinkets, pull-tabs and such but will be doing some relic hunting as soon as the local deer season goes out.
Any suggestions to carry my tools in that will make life easier for a newbie?

I use a couple leather pouches and many times if I carry extra stuff, I'll wear 2 - one on each side so I'm better balanced (is that possible?):

If I'm walking a good ways from the vehicle/motorcycle, I'll also wear a nice fishing vest which have loads of pockets to carry all kinds of stuff, to include chow, drinks & snacks in the large back compartment.

I also seen a variety of pouches at local hardware/home improvements stores - like OSH Orchard Supply, Lowes, Home Depot

I use a TreasureWise pouch and a fishing vest for all my doodads.

The pouch hangs well to rear of my hip so it doesn't get in the way as I crouch. It has a wide open mouth and I just scoop and dump. All the goodies fall to the bottom and the larger trash stays on top. Then if anyone asks, I just reach into the top and bring out handfull of canslaw and grubby pulltabs. They usually go away then, muttering something about the crazy guy with the detector.

I tried a Batman Belt like tab-nabit has there, once. I enjoyed my cleverness at fitting it up and it was pretty dandy. But then I got a look at myself in a video while wearing it. I hate to say it, tab old buddy, but I looked like a doofus in it! Please dont get mad at me for saying it, but that was my reaction when I saw it. Lord knows what others said, while I was busy swinging.

So I swapped that off for a fishing vest. It has about a zillion pockets, giving me plenty of places for things like extra batteries, goodie pockets, camera stashes, etc. Between it and the pouch, I maintain some semblance of decorum while detecting and dont look like a refugee from security guard school.

But, hey - to each his own! :)
(Dont shoot me tab!)

They are the Sun Ray Treasure Pouch - made for detecting. They come in left/right - yes each has 2 PVC probe holders.
Nabbed them from a local dealer where I have bought detectors and loads of accessories. He had put a sale on them, then I got an extra good deal I couldn't pass up so I nabbed 6 of these pouches at once:devil: and since I was buying other accessories and yes, another detector (I think my 6th or 7th from him), I got the 6 pouches for dirt cheap. Should last me I hope:huh:
[Added] Forgot to say, the pouches are a soft leather - for extra softness or other leather goods, depending what it is, I'll use a baseball product called "Hot Glove" - worked for my baseball gloves and I ended up using the stuff for other leather junk I have. Google "Hot Glove"

I just tried to stay away so I wasn't associated with them.LOL..The funniest I ever saw had twenty pounds of belts and extras for a two hour hunt, and topped it off with one of those desert hats that hang down on the sides and back..That was a sight to behold LOL... I laugh everytime I think of him.:rofl:

I use a carpenters belt. Easy to find, enough space and fairly cheap.:detecting:

I use my pocket.

All you can see is my detector and my headphones.

When my suspenders won't hold up my pants, I know

it's time ta empty my pocket.

If I go in tha woods, I'll take a shovel small that hangs

on a hook I made.

Tabdog

Thanks for all the suggestions. I had actually bought a trout fishing vest on sale a Walmart to use in milder weather. It seems to carry everything I need . I'm going to sew a couple of hangars on it for my coin probe, pin pointer and coin popper and I should be set.
Thanks again,
Curt

I use on of those lightweight shot gun shell holders from Academy. I have it on my web belt along with my pinpoint holder and my digging tool.

I use a carpenters nail apron from Home Depot and wear cargo pants for all those pockets. I can keep my keys, cell phone, wallet, and a bottle of water in the pockets. The nail apron has two pockets in it so I can separate junk from keepers. sometimes I also wear a small backpack if I want to pack some snacks. My detector carry bag is never far from me and that holds extra coils diggers batteries etc. I had not thought of using a fishing vest like some have suggested. That's a pretty good idea. Maybe I'll try that.

I use the Sun Ray trash/treasure pouch and just love it. It has 2 pockets with velco flap to keep you coins in, has the pouch for the trash a will also hold a water bottle. It also has the place for the Lesche digging knife and 2 screw driver probes. I am on my 10th year with mine and even bought 2 more incase I need them later on as it is the best I have found in my 35 years of detecting.

I have tried the carpenter pouchs of leather and a few other type pouches but then I realized I dont need those huge pockets for trash , why not carry a plastic grocery store bag and just drop it in a trashcan or dumpster and be done with it. I recently got a new whites pinpointer 2 and decided I was not going to spend another 10 bucks on a flimsy case with a belt clip so I took an old web belt , cut it up and used 4 rivits and now I have a free case and took about 15 minutes to make. The pouch was a belly pack with a cup holder, I cut off all the strap to wind up with a two pocket pouch and the outside pocket is mesh I then took some more webbing from the old belt and made two belt loops and had them sewed on at a upholstery shop for a buck. The other loop with the small D ring has two purposes. One it can be used as a tether to the machine if necessary but also you can take a plastic grocery bag and tie one end thru the opening in the D ring and at the end of the hunt just undo it and toss it in a trashcan. The last little black velcro pouch was for a knife at one time , but its a very secure little pouch for rings or old coins. usally with modern clad I just toss them into my jean pockets. The last item on the belt is my leshe digger . This is a very efficient and lightweight setup. If I am going out into the boonies somewhere I usally carry a backpack with other essentials

I have 2 bags. On is the Minelab pouch. This one is for my finds, batteries, and other needed items. My other pouch is one I got at Lowes. It is for trash and my dropcloth.I also have a hammer hanger on my belt for my digger. Talking about sites to see!! Oh and add to that a set of Knee pads and I sure look like a wild man. I don't care it works for me, Beale.
