I found this out in a field about 10" down .It's not sharp or look like it ever held a edge but it look like it was made to wack something.Should i just clean it with water or sand it down to the metal to clean it up.Any help or info is appreciated.I think it's made of iron and is 13" long. Thanks to all

Cultivating plow point, used for weeding and planting crops. Wash and wire brush it, oil it down to stop the rust.

Thanks Sandpiper for the info my next question is .Is there a collectible market out there for things of this nature because this old field is loaded with them. Or is it something i just put on display as one of my finds.

Sandpiper is correct and the name of this tool is a "coulter". It mounted to the plow beam to cut the sod or other vegetation in front of the plowshare itself. The new and improved version was a "rolling coulter", which looked exactly like a large pizza cutter.

I use 3 in One oil. [attachment 156332 3inOneOil.jpg] It's a cleaner plus a lubricant. It works great for many metals. I especially like it on old nickels and buttons. HH, Nancy
