What Kind of Eye Hook is this?:whites:

[attachment 127399 EyeHook_Front.jpg] [attachment 127400 EyeHook_Back.jpg]

This item is approx. 1/2" in thickness, 6.5" long, and 3.5" wide.
It appears that the top of the loop has been hammered on and the spear point end must have been hammered into wood?
I dunno as I have never seen anything like this.
It seems to be iron or steel but is very heavy and seems a little bit like it has some copper content.

Thanks for looking.

It is called a "dog" in the timber world.
This is simply a device used in logging that when hammered into a log a cable then can be run through the eye to lash one or more logs together.
May not have too much age on it as they are still in use today.

Thanks gordygroover,

I thought maybe it would be for either logging, or for working around heavy timber construction.
The area I found it in is about 20 blocks uphill from the waterline, but I understand that waterline was much closer years ago.

Tonight I am using the Tesoro BIIuMax with 5.75 concentric to work over another area a second time!
