what kind of depth are you getting F5 and F70 in ohio and at lake erie beaches thanks

I've been around the Cleveland area and have been hitting coins at 12 to a max at 14 inches. Depends on where you are at. Seems Cleveland has it all. Trashy sites, clean areas, rocks, highly mineralized and sand. I have been in areas that I could only get down to about 6 inches.

If you are doing the beaches from Lorain east to Cleveland, be prepared for a lot of sinkers, hooks, clads, and trash. Seems that people of Ohio really like to dump their trash on the beaches.
But you may get lucky and find a ring or two. I haven't had much luck at eastern lake Erie beaches. But I have heard that others had found some nice things but they are few and far between.

The beaches up near Sandusky have more upscale visitors and would offer a better chance to find gold and silver. Plus I would recommend doing a little bit of research into historical records to find the beaches that were popular in the 1800's to early 1900's.

Thanks the beaches in lake county are high in mineral and ore from the boats leaving Fairport harbor.Iam looking for a new detector and reading how everyone is doing.Use ace 250 mxt and idx, hard time at beach with them still find stuff but nothing great. The soil here is hard and a lot of minerals .Thanks for information.Looking at f5 or f70

I'm using the F-70. So far, I've had it for two weeks and really enjoy using it. It does take a little time to get used to the sounds deeper coins make and I have started to figure out what sounds mean what. I also love the lightness of the F-5 and the F-70.

I had doubts about the F-70 at first but a friend has one and we put it up against a new E-trac. The F-70 was faster and just about as deep as the E-trac. I would guess that the E-trac does have some advantages in certain instances that the F-70 would have trouble with like salt water beaches and really high mineral content ground. I also found the ID on the F-70 was just a little shaky whereas the E-trac had more info to base a dig or not dig decision on.

So I am going to get the E-trac and keep the F-70. Both are great machines.

The F-5 is also a great machine for the price and I have tried it in the field. The F-5 may or may not be quite as deep as the F-70 and for the money you just can't go wrong. I really like the F-5's layout and screen. I also like the manual ground balance. I also like the pots for adjustments of gain, threshold, ground balance and discrimination. Much quicker than moving through numbers with a touch pad.

The F-5 would be my choice as a backup to my F-70 or F-75. I like the 7.5 KZ frequency as a good bet to hit areas that may give the F-70 series trouble.
