What kind of bullet is this?? For you relic hunters.

I found this bullet today from a old site that dates back to the early 1800's but I am not a relic hunter at all so I have no idea what type of bullet this is. It obviously had hit something. but the bullet has three rings around it's body an indent on one end ( seen in the picture) and the other end resembles the point of a modern hollow point bullet. Does anybody know what this bullet is, or the date from which it comes?

FarmerJ,

That's a modern bullet, badly banged up but I would guess it is from a lyman mould for a black powder shooter. Sorry, but it is not a Civil War or earlier projectile.

LOL....... AAAAHHHH Crap you just ruined my day. Thanks for the help and I will try to do better next time.

Farmer,

We find a bunch of those from .45 cal to .58 cal. They're very popular with the Pennsylvania black powder deer hunters, especially the .58. They can make you nuts when you get that perfect bullet tone, dig a hole and find one.

Happy hunting,
TomH
