hello all, i recently took several digital photos on my wife's new camera - it's a lot better than our old one - and now i'm having a lot of trouble moving them over into my documents from photobucket. i put them in photobucket to size and edit the photos to meet the size requirements on here. i know that kodak easy share is a program within itself, but i feel my photos are being held hostage! is easy share THAT proprietary? you can believe me when i tell you, i will never use easyshare again, and will have it removed from my pc. any help in this matter would be appreciated, and thanks in advance. seems it should be called "not so easily shared!" hh,

Hi Ghost:

I also have a Kodak camera, and also have given up on CheesyShare....I now use Xara (free program). It is easier to use, and does not steal your photos to put on some web site for all the pervs to look at your grandkids....I never liked that, and wrote a letter to Kodak telling them exactly what I thought of it.....I never did get a reply...Gee....I wonder why???

GRAY GHOST: Almost all of your photo needs, and almost all of your photo problems can be fixed if you went to http://picasa.google.com/ and downloaded the PICASA program, a Google exclusive. It allows you to do a hell of a lot of things while managing all of your photos. And, best of all, it's free. You download it and within minutes you can be manipulating your photos. On top of everything, your photos remain on your hard drive and you don't have to import them or let anyone else have control over your photos.

Before you download PICASA you can preview it. I've used PICASA exclusively since it was introduced years ago and I've processed and posted hundreds/thousands of photos. Check it out.

Koduck Easy Share is probably the worst photo software out there. It's possible to retrieve your photos without using it, but unless you know what you are doing it's a pain in the neck. It also will slow your PC down both on the boot and while running. It also opens and maintains a connection to the web, which sucks up bandwidth and will further slow your machine down.
Picasa is a real good free alternative that doesn't have any of the drawbacks.
