What is this strange rock?

My hunting buddy found this last week with his CTX. We can't make out the hallmark on the back but the date on the front is 1620. It appears to be made of solid brass and is shaped like a rock. Anyone have any clues?

My guess is that it's probably a land marker of some kind, and perhaps the line in the stone shows the direction of the property line. My guess is that there are others in the area. You might want to get hold of an old surveryor's map of the area to see what the early property owners were. I wonder if the mark on the back is from the surveyor's company?

Try this site, it might help out: Try this!

Good luck and HH!

Its *%#!in' COOL!!!! I have no idea what it actually is, but congrats to you guys for finding it!

I think it is a replica of Plymouth Rock to commemorate the Pilgrims landing but I can't figure out the makers mark. It was found in a church yard that dates back to the early 18th century.

[size=large]Just amazing!! What size is it??

A few things listed when the year 1620 is Googled:

November 20- Peregrine White was the first child to be born in the Mayflower Colony.
November 21- The Mayflower arrives at Cape Cod.
November 21- The Mayflower Compact is signed.

If that's a regular sized placemat under it, it looks to be at least 4"? Truly a trophy, and maybe worth something huge...

I can't find any white-out. The size is 4" long, 2 3/4" wide and stands 1 5/8" at its tallest point.

I think Grunter nailed it. I found something very close to your rock, besides images of Plymouth Rock. Here is a link.
