with finding the buffalo nickel yesterday I almost forgot about this little guy, what is it? It rang up under the gold/foil area on my Ace 250
I tried to take pictures of it from all sides, penny is for size comparison. If I did not have a pinpointer I would have NEVER located this, that is for sure!!!
It is hard, and it definately is not foil, and it is gold in color.

Ok what is it, anyway possible it IS gold? I doubt it but I had to ask. I am impressed the Ace 250 found this with it being so SMALL!

Maybe theres gold in... Ohio?
You happy with your pointer huh? I'ts definately on my wish list.

Is it heavy for its size? There is some gold in Ohio. Some of it was brought by glaciers which I think would give it rounded edges. The placer gold I find has rounded edges. Are you sure it is not pyrite?

The nugett you have there looks like pyrite due to a chrystal formation but the way to tell is to take a pin if it pyrite it will not penetrate the nugget but if it is gold a pin will. you can heat the pin if need to this is a way I test gold when I am out panning. hope this helps you.

Bite it between your teeth..........

gold. It's known to be located in southern Ohio. Here in northwestern Ohio, that could be a historical find.

Here's a link and you can clink on the pics and make them bigger.

so your saying that Pyrite does NOT give a signal huh? interesting. Those pyrite pictures are way more shiny than the nugget I have here. And it does not have sharp edges like that either.

Great find!!! You could try some of the chemical tests, sold from Kelly Co.

A piece of pyrite will leave a black mark when scraped on the back side of a plate or some ceramic object that has no glaze on it. Gold will leave a gold streak.
I discovered I dropped my pinpointer alongside the road the other day and now it appears to be owned by some other lucky person. Really slows down the recovery of my targets that is for sure.
Looks like it will be a while longer before I get one too. I might as well upgrade to the Sunray as long as I am going to be keeping my Ace for quite a while longer and I vowed to only use my money findings to purchase my detecting supplies.
