what is this? i found MDing

I've looked at that thing at least a half a dozen times now and I don't know for sure what it is, but I suspect it is a part off an old wood burning stove or old pot belly stove. Maybe a burner cover or a piece off the door vent. One of the holes might have been where a handle or wire or something could be hooked to it to move it or open it when it was hot. It looks like the correct type of metal and thickness to be something like that. Hope that helps. jeff
 
It may be part of a hand held powdered insecticide sprayer. The kind that you hold with one hand and pump with the other.

Just a guess,
