I am new at this I have fooled with other detector but this one looks like something Spock made on the Enterprise.Any advise out there. I want to get as deep as I can. Before I start playing with the adjustments and pushing the wrong thing and messing up the detector to no return I thought I get some input from you all. I don't want to hear it say I have ten seconds to run before it self detonates. any advise would be great Thanks

Pick a stock program, and ground balance. Start hunting. Later you can read and ask questions. At this point I can't give you a whole course. If you really need that much help to start, see your local dealer that you bought the V3i from.

I'm not trying to be silly but your question is sort of like," how do I build a house"?

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks Ron I have had the v3 for about a week I sure with this post I will learn alot.People on this form seam to really know what they are talking about and I am greatfull for them..

Rob's the Name. No, I meant you have to ask more specific questions to get help.

Read the instruction manual that came with the detector and when your finished reading it, read it again. Watch the DVD that came with the detector several times as well.
Start simple, use the stock programs and make adjustments as necessary.
The V3/V3i can be a little overwhelming, but have faith.
A good little coil to have and in my opinion helps with the learning curve is the 4x6 coil.
Turn VCO on to begin with.
Read this Forum, you can rest assured any questions you may have probably have already been answered.
GOOD LUCK and HAPPY HUNTING.

1. Keep the gain at 4-6 in coin and jewelery for the first week. This will help you learn your detector so much easier than trying to tackle every little adjustment. Read the forum and dont be afraid to ask questions.

2. Learn to recognize emi by operating near power lines and lower the gain till it diminishes. This will save you the headache of thinking something is wrong with the detector.

3. Dont be upset when things dont appear to be as they should. In other words you may find your self digging some empty holes from time to time. It happens from dissolved minerals in the ground forming halo's and small surface trash that is easily tossed aside never to be found again.

Above all have fun and when it is trashy get a smaller coil and go slow. You will be amazed at what you find.

Go slow dig everything ,turn on tone ID And VCO ,Use a low RX number .About 4-6 should b good for learning. Good Luck Yazoo

Besides reading the instruction manual and watching the DVD as many times as necessary until you pretty much know them by heart. It can also be very helpful to go back thru this forum (or forward from pg. 87) and just pickup on those tidbits which are most helpful to you.

Thanks for the info I was wondering just for the sake of getting more depth whitch adjustments Is the main one the rx or am or disk on the fly screen.

I think the first thing I learned is that this is a HOT machine, and it's a good idea to keep the gain low for a while. Also, be careful to note how a target shows up in the bar graph in pinpoint....You'll never confuse a bottle cap for a quarter once you've learned this. Other than that, be aware that the V3i hits harder on nickels than anything else I've ever seen other than pulse machines - and if you're getting the nickels, the gold rings will come. Good luck!

butch said it right dont expect great finds all the time, have fun hunt as much as you can and the good stuff will show itself in time, deph is great but a few of my best old coin finds were less than 3in , perseverance is the key.
