I've been putting it off, but I'm going to have to get one.

Good luck welcome to 2 the G2

I had a GoldBug 2,9 version for a very short time as it was just a side trip while I was waiting for another unit to come. Now I've figured out I need it and have to get another one.

I would have kept the 2.9 that's a winner , But this one is just as good...

Just curious what the Gold Bug has at 19 khz that the AT Gold doesn't have at 18 Khz?
It seems to me the Giold would be a better detector from the spec's that I have read, and
from the reports from users.

Salida,
It is hard to compare just going off specs as a lot goes on under the hood. There is likely places where the AT Gold may excel and others where the Gold Bug Pro excels. I have seen some mineralized soils where the AT Gold punched slightly deeper on a larger gold nugget but with erratic background chatter. In other ground it was the opposite. The Gold Bug Pro was more sensitive to the smaller items and more stable. You could hunt in a river with the AT Gold. So much comes down to where you hunt and individual search preferences that drawing conclusions based on others experiences is not always the best approach. What I like to do is buy two used detectors and run them against each other at my sites and see which I like better. If I want a warranty I sell both and buy the better one new. I chose the Gold Bug Pro and am extremely pleased with it, but that doesn't mean it is necessarily right for you.
