What is the GB 29? The version number? n/t

29 is the version number. It was an SE with modulated audio. This version was one of the early models before the Pro or DP was introduced.
The 29 in my experience is super hot.

When I bought my GB SE it had version 2.9 and after several months I had to send it back in. It came back with 3.0 which I think was the first firmware version the GB Pro had. The only differences between the two versions that I noticed was a common nail would ID at a 16 in version 2.9 and ID at 27 in version 3.0 The second if I remember correctly was in disc mode the ID number would remain until another target was acquired in version 2.9 and in 3.0 the display resets the ID back to blank after 4 or 5 seconds.

Take care,
Bob

Hi all. I am new to this forum. I have a Gold Bud se with a Firmware of 1. What the heck does this mean? Is a 1 good or bad? I see other people with a 29 or a 3. I have had some problems with it chattering when over hot rocks. The land I work is raw land. No phone or power lines. Thanks ahead of time.

I'm not sure "good" or "bad" is the issue; version one is the first, prototype version of the Gold Bug, I believe. There were various changes made over time; bottom line is if you are happy with your unit, it is "good" for you! :) If there is something that you think may not be working right, contact Fisher and talk to them about it. There are good folks there and I believe they will get you take care of.
