What is the difference in the two patterns for each mode

My machine is on the way, so I've never actually seen or used the CTX yet. I've been trying to find something that tells you what is different about the two patterns for each search mode, but basically all I have found is that they are two different discrimination patterns. Is one of them more open than the other or what is the difference? How do you know which of the two to use? Do you keep switching back and forth between the two? So, how do I best take advantage of the two modes? Any suggestions?

You can create or modify the patterns for each mode to suit your needs. The there are many options for tones, discrimation, etc, that can be set for your specific preferences and locations. Once you read your manual it will make sense. Good Luck

Basically, the two patterns for each mode thing is so that you can set up two different discrimination patterns for each mode. Lots of users will run some preferred discrimination pattern in P1, and then an open, or almost open screen (i.e. little or no discrimination) in pattern two. Then, when you hit a target you are interested in, you may choose to switch between the two patterns to get a "different" read on the target, which can sometimes help in your dig vs. no dig decision...
