What is the difference between these detectors?

What is the difference between the Gold Bug, the Gold Bug Pro and the Gold Bug DP. . I was told they are the same detector but they used different kinds of heads. Is that right? If not tell me the difference if you will.

Thanks.

The GB Pro and the GB DP are the same with different coils.

The difference between the Gold Bug and the Gold Bug Pro are that the Pro has a little more sensitivity or Gain, VCO in Discrimination mode and also has manual ground balance with Ground Grab and not just Ground Grab. The only difference between the Pro and the DP is that the Pro comes standard with the 5" coil and the DP (Deep Penetration) comes with the 11" coil. The 11" coil goes deeper on coin sized targets hence the DP designation.

Ok now I am confused......
When You answered and said the quuoteThe gold bug and the goldbug pro did you mean the original gold bug ????

When talking about the goldbug pro and goldbug dp one having the 5 inch coil and the other having the 9X11 i think the size is.
Does the goldbug dp say dp on the unit or does it say goldbug pro ??

The control unit on the GB DP does say Gold Bug Pro on it, not Gold Bug DP

This is correct. They both say Gold Bug Pro because they are the same detector with the exception of the coil. If you buy a new GBP, you get the 5" coil. If you buy a new GB DP, you get the 11" coil. My reference above to the Gold Bug was to the new Gold Bug, the non "Pro" version that is currently being manufactured.

The Standard digital Gold bug and the Gold Bug DP are the same detector. The DP is fitted with an eleven inch coil and the STD GB is fitted with a five inch coil.
The + and - buttons are for Disc adjust only. Each has Push Button Ground Grab only. Both control boxes are marked Gold Bug.

The Gold Bug Pro comes with an 5 inch coil,.has manual ground balance as well as Ground Grab and the + and - buttons are used to adjust both Disc level and Ground balance.
The control box is marked Gold Bug Pro

I disagree with Fishers Ghost's post above. The DP is the same as the Pro but with the 11" coil. I have 2 Gold Bug DP's and both control boxes are marked Gold Bug Pro.

Yes----I also have two Gold Bug DP's and they are marked "Gold Bug Pro" on the control boxes (they are version 4's).

I stand corrected.
I was only going by what I saw listed on Ebay as per the item discription panels. (It would seem that some sellers are pulling a shonky).
After looking at the Fisher Labs Site (Which I shooda dun in tha first place) the differences are clear.

Cheers

Gold bug Pro and Gold Bug DP are same machine different coil. Plain gold bug does not have the dual processors and not good on coins like the other two are.

That is not true the Plain GB is exactly like the pro on the inside I have had them both apart and they both have the same processors. The only difference is the plain GB does not have manual ground balance and is less sensitive it functions the same and hunts coins just the same if not better because your not bothered by as much foil.

TOM !!!!! IT HAS VCO IN DISC MODE No gold bug after the 2.9 was introduced has saturated audio. If you don't believe me check a dealer.

godigit1 - Do you know the difference between Saturated audio and Modulated audio? I'm guessing you don't because they are both different from VCO, which you can have or not have with both. Saturated audio has a loud (volume wise) sound on targets rather they are deep or shallow (all targets give the same loudness). Modulated Audio varies the target loudness depending on its depth. The deeper the target, the Quieter the response. VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) changes the Pitch from low pitch to high pitch as the target gets closer to both the coil and the center of the coil which helps in pinpointing.

If you're talking the Teknetics G2 and the Fisher Gold Bug Pro, there is no difference except the rod configuration, coil size and the graphics. All the guts inside the control box are the same.
