WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SOVEREIGN XS AND THE XS-2??.......................

.................................They look very similiar!!........................Only differences that I can see is that the XS-2 has a Drop-In Rechargeable Battery Pack compared to a Plug-in for the XS. Also the XS-2 has an external toggle switch for single/variable tone compared to an internal switch for the XS!! Are there any other differences........................??........................................HH...........THANKS JOE

Joe,

The difference is the battery as you see, but the one with the external tone switch is the XS2a as the XS2 didn't have that unless someone added it to it. The other difference was the XS had the 8 inch coin search coil while the XS2 had the waterproof BBS 8 coil on it.
I have used them all and I feel the ones that are more in demand used is the GT, the XS, the XS2 in that order. The GT has the most power while the XS with the coin search coil was the easiest to use while the XS2 had the power of the XS many were having problems with the battery doors sliding open a little and the battery not making a good connection.

That battery door sucks. Has caused a lot of trouble for a lot of people.
The whole setup for the battery compartment and packs fit together like they were made for different detectors. Certainly don't fit right to each other.

Kind of reminds me of how the body panels on American cars fit together back around 1980...........

WHATS UP WITH DETECTOR BRANDS ,FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER ALL OF MY GARRETT'S THE BATTERY PACKS WOULD CRACK,YOU WOULD THINK THE MANUFACTURE COULD MAKE A SOLID BATTERY PACK FOR DETECTORS WE ARE PAYING A LOT OF MONEY FOR THESE DETECTOR !!!

I agree, the battery door seems to be an abomination. And why they didn't build in a cut-off circuit in the battery charger is beyond me, I mean really, we're probably talking about $1 tops in additional costs on a what, $800+ MSRP machine. Oh well, still a great metal detector.
