WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BBS AND TORNADO COILS??.................

The tornado coils are thinner and lighter and more sensitive.

Also with the 10" one, minelab moved the ears a little closer toward the center of the coil giving better balance.

All the cables are black on the tornado coils. the later bbs coils had the black cables, the earlier ones had the grey cables.

The BBS coils were used on the XS2 and the XS2a while the Elite and the GT had the Tornado coils. The Tornado coils are a little lighter weight and much more sensitive than the older BBS coils were so the demand for the Tornado coils is greater. The picture I have is a 8 inch Tornado coil as it was the extra one I got from Neil to use on my GT, but the 10 inch is the one I use on the GT as I do like this coil over the older BBS coil. I dont have a picture of a BBS coil or I would post it, but just look at the label as they are marked BBS or Tornado.

Everyone is correct.
It's just a better coil, lighter, and more streamlined.

Here is pic of the BBS (Big Black Sucker) 10"
