What is the difference between Explorer SE & SE Pro?

Just the coil... The SE Pro is upgraded with the "Pro Coil" ... Possibly the country of manufacturing.. I may be completely wrong.. I believe Minelab detectors were originally made in Australia... Now Malaysia... Maybe both....

Take care,
Derrelld

They were made in Ireland.... and yes they got rid of the not so good slimline coil which made us all go looking for the Exp II coils.

You're exactly right! I couldn't remember but knew it changed. Now that you've said Ireland its all coming back to me.

Were they made or assembled in Ireland?
I thought they were all manufactured in Australia but assembled in Ireland....then assemby moved to Malaysia.
Either way...SE is a good explorer...I liked them all but didnt like that lower rod setup on the XS.
Minelab makes a quality product.

Doesn't the Pro have the Pitch Hold? I could be wrong.

I have an early SE. Seems to work fine but how would I know unless I had one that worked right? So if I put the right coil on it am I good?

yes. Or find the regular original coil for an earlier XS or II, which will also be an improvement.

And yes you're right: If your only experience ever has only ever been the SE (without the pro or older-style coil), then you would not know what you are missing. It's not like the first SE's didn't *work* after all.
