What is the charge time for the NiCad battery on Excalibur 1000?

My charger has no indicator light, so I have been charging it overnight. What is the approximate charge time for the NiCad battery for the Excalibur 1000?

Also, is there any danger of damaging the battery if it charges for a few days? I charged it Friday night and forgot about it until just now.

It looks to be the same as for the earlier sovs (12-14hrs). As mentioned in the manual---page 12

To recharge the battery, unplug and remove the battery pod from the main
shaft and connect it to the charger, using the supplied adaptor.
b) Plug the charger into the power socket and leave charging for 12

hello,i just got my excal1000 and charged the battery twice. i checked it at 12 hours with my digital meter and it read 13.33 volts. checked at 14 hrs and it read the same. just alittle info for ya.

Neil ive had no problem leaving mine on all the time. I hunt several times a week and have never had a problem one INITIALLY charged properly. It good for batteries to be depleated. Ive had an Exp SE battery pack since they came out.... if it not being used it stays on the charger and there hasnt been any hunting reduction time. It a slow charger.... but once its full ive found it doesnt take those 14 hours of charging to be fully charged. You can make a quick charger..... some have.

would take about 12 hours to charge up my spent batteries. I bought a battery charger from batterypacks.com and it will charge the spent batteries in my excal in 2 hours, have been using it now for a year and has worked great, no problems. The charger is: Powerizer Universal Smart Ni-MH&Ni-cd Battery Pack Charger Model H01200006-US-1, Input voltage 90-260VAC, 50/60 Hz Auto-switching Output voltage 7.2-12v DC Auto detecting, Output Current Constant 0.6A Auto cut-off. Hope this helps. John

That sounds like a good simple charger that should work well for it. 2 hour charge times aren't really pushing nimhs or nicads that hard. Mainly doing an hour or less charge can generate heat that can shorten battery life, and with the batteries enclosed by the plastic waterproof case on the Excal that can make them get even hotter, so I'd watch any one hour or less charging with Excal packs, but 2 hours probably is just fine and doesn't build up any heat. Just feel the pack after it's probably more than 2/3rds done charging and see if it's hot. If it is, then next time you charge it you might want to consider laying it on an ice pack while charging or at least turning a small fan on to blow over it during the charging process. I know guys who fast charge their nicad or nimh RC packs by sticking the pack in the freezer while charging. Usually the freezer will still close even with a wire running out of it to the charger outside on top of the freezer. These guys are doing charging rates of 5 to 20 minutes though, because a 1 hour charge isn't really pushing most RC nimh or nicad packs. They can still get hot though doing that.
