I've always been a land hunter ,since I have diabetes I what to get off my feet for awhile, I want one that is durable, accurate and easy to use any suggestions would be very helpful, thanks Hank68.

Hard question Hank...... it depends on the beach, your ability to learn tones, trash, disc vs AM hunting, desire to dig and which part of the country you are in, and are you talking fresh or salt water hunting. There are a few that id say MOST hunters want..... Xcal and CZ21 for disc or Whites DF for PI in salt water. In fresh water most of the water machines will serve you well. Salt just has a different set of rules and conditions. You next question will be what type of scoop.... mine was.

Dew

I would be more fresh w:beers:ater hunting mybe a rare a occasion go to the beach, maybe some snorkel hunting but that is it, thanks Dew for the info, best of luck!

My one friend loves his Excal. I like quiet hunting, He likes noise. Both are exceptionally great machines and will pay for themselves if you find the right spots.

My only problem is all I find are pull-tabs and bottle tops and a few new coins.

Thanks Scubadetector for the information on the detectors I'm narrowing it down between 4 of them, best of luck, Hank.

and has never failed me yet. It;s a gold magnet:tesoro:

Thanks I did have my eye on either atpro or the tiger shark still haven't made my mind up.

The AT Pro is rated to ten feet of dunking depth, and the Tiger Shark is rated at 250 ft. I have read of all kinds of problems with the AT Pro, the Tiger Shark is a proven and problem free unit.

The excall and CZ are proven platforms also if you rely on tone id, but if you rely on tone id...........which tones do you dig? I rely on the single tone of the Tiger Shark, it is more descriptive with it's single tone for me. I set the disc. to ignore small iron (bobypins, small nail etc.) and dig all solid signals. Do I dig any trash? You Bet! Aluminum in the form of foil and pulltabs abound in the places I hunt at....BUT once in awhile I also see the flash of gold in my scoop, which makes it all worth while......just my two zincs.

Its the autotune mode. I have never used it yet BUT, I also have mine at ZERO discrimination and ignore the iron signals AS long as I don't get a high signal with it. I have sat in one spot underwater digging over 40 coins without moving an inch. Also nails, bottle tops and you name it. IN most the spots I detect autotune would drive me batty, BUT I am going to try it in some of my very quiet spots.

Thanks for the information!

If you are looking at used detectors, the old Whites Surfmaster 2 is a great freshwater machine, and the White's PI PRO (with the adjustable pulse delay) is a great beach machine. Both can be tweeked by Mr. Bill to be optimal for small gold.

I have owned both the Tiger Shark and now the Sand Shark, I bought the Sand Shark because I live near the ocean now. I wanted a PI machine for salt water areas.

The balance is great, like swinging a pendulum. I did not do much water hunting with the TIger Shark but I would use it on rainy days .

The control box can be mounted three different ways or hip mounted, and the middle shaft can be removed for diving.

Both machines were trouble free and seemto be well built.

The Garrett Sea hunter II. It has pulled up more Spanish Galleon treasure than any other and continues to do so. Simple PI. Go deep.

Thanks for the input.
