What is the best pouch for securing your finds

Hi
I was wondering what pouch would be the best to use to secure your finds. Would it be one with a zipper, velcro? . Anyone have an all in one for finds, pinpointer and digging tools, ect.?

I'm partial to an over the shoulder (and neck) military style canvas courier bag - plenty or room for trash and an outside Velcro'd pocket for keepers. Keeps me from looking like Commando-Creep at the city parks with all the stuff hanging off of my belt.

I use the Minelab fiders pouch. I lke it, does what I need and has both zipper and velcro. I also have a small tool pouch I use to put all my trash in. I like to keep them in seperate pouches, Beale.

Here is what I use,a modified tool pouch from Lowes. On the other side of my belt is a leather pouch for junk.Coins go in the same pocket under the probe.

is the leather finds pouch made by sunray. It has a large open mouth trash pocket, 2 velcro'd smaller pockets, a built in sheath for your digger(lesche hand digger fits perfectly), and two small pieces of some type of pvc conduit to hold a coin popper and a probe. They are a little pricey but unless you lose it, it will last a LONG time. JMHO. Bob.

Hey Shambler,

I agree
Courier and Bookbags are well balanced and lots of room...

...the last one I bought was from the army surplus and was a regular book bag, and only $11.49

TOO MUCH DIRT, NOT ENUFF TIME!

I though it was your pocket?....I have had pockets for almost fifty years, have not lost anything!!!!

I think these are the ones Tab-nabit posted pictures of.

Holy cow, I try to keep it as low weight as possible. I usually fill up my back pocket with my finds. Then the wife gives me an earful:detecting: cause I keep getting my good jeans dirty knees!

Jimmy Sierra Has a deluxe relic apron on his website. A bit expensive, but I really like it. Compartments for cell phone, wallet good finds & junk. You can also carry a few other things including your digger. It is the best one I found to satisfy my needs.

I carry only the bare essentials, the apprpriate digging tool for the type of hunting I am doing, detector and two pocket apron. Good jewelry and coin finds go into small zip loc type plastic holders and other coins and trash go into my apron pockets. Everything else remains in my vehicle, of which, I am never all that far away from. HH jim tn

I use a fanny pack. There is a zippered compartment in the back or on the inside for the good finds and it is big enough to hold the trash in the main pocket. I carry my digger in my hand.

If I also use one of my fishing vest's, I have plenty of pockets for plenty of gear, plenty of trash, plenty of good finds, plenty of drinks, plenty of snacks, --- those are for the longer walks away from the vehicle - usually relic hunting. So plenty of bug spray, plenty spare batteries, and list goes on and on.

[size=medium]I don't usually use a pouch.

But going too far from tha car causes me to need one
sometimes.

My first choice is a cloth nail pouch.

If it takes more, I got a nice soft leather pouch I modified.

If I need more than that, I got a larger nylon pouch I use.

About a week ago I was going relic hunting and couldn't
find my belt. That may sound funny to those who do not
ware suspenders. But I don't have many belts.

So I stopped of at a small town before I got to tha site and
tried to find a belt. I could not find anything but dress belts
that just cost too much.

Then I found a pouch for shotgun shells with a belt. It was
as cheep as tha dress belts so I bought it.

It worked great. Deep pocket with webbing. Two other big
pockets.

Don't know how good it is, but it saved tha day and worked
great for me.

I modified this one from a two-pocket army surplus-type belt pouch. I removed the flaps & metal twist closure thingies, Patched the holes & sewn a thin piece of leather over the lip of the main pocket. I also slid a thick copper electrical wire under the leather so that the main pocket would remain open. I also attached two clips on the back so I could attach the pouch to my jeans' belt loops (havnt broken one yet).

Yeah, it a bit small, doesnt carry everything, but it seves my needs almost perfectly.I keep the trash and my digger in the main pocket and smaller things I want to keep (like modern coins) in the smaller pocket. Any REAL keepers (old coins etc. etc.) get wrapped up in tissue & put in a special container I keep in a pocket. it takes a lot to lose any of the smaller finds kept in the smaller pocket. I mean.... you would have to fall or lay downhill or hang upside down for things to fall out.... and if you did lose them... it would be no big deal since they are not REAL keepers.... just modern coins etc etc).

And I can wash it in the washer when it gets too dirty. Cant do that with those big expensive leather rigs. Note: I also have one of those large old leather pouches that were made specifically for metal detecting (the ones with the zippered pocket on the outside) but rarely use it.
