What is the best landTersoro for jewelry

I met another hunter the other day and he was raving about how great Tersoros were on jewelry and how many rings he has found. I'm thinking of buying one for a back up to my Etrac and also for my girlfriend to use. The one he had was an older model which I guess they don't make anymore.I don't remember the model. I'm looking for a very simple but sensitive machine that is easy to use as I know she won't want to fiddle with lots of knobs. Let's hear what you think is the best for jewelry on land. Thanks!

i say the Silver,,, it is easy for her and you can put the 3x18 on it for you

compadre
1 knob loves jewelry light fast ez on the pocket book

I have used the silver umax for a couple years now and I have found gold rings with it. However I have never found a thin ring with it and swung it over an eyeballed 10K butterfly pendant without a chirp with disc on fOil. As much as I like my silver I would say for $wize, ease of use and the ability to find small, thin gold it's COMPADRE all the way. The reviews and finding posts on the compadre continue to amaze me. Good luck on your decision.

that's what SHE said,,,,,, I run my disc a bit lower at just aboove iron,,,,, i get small items very easy this way many a silver charms and other small items,,,

I agree the Compadre is the best for shallow gold (up to 6"), more than 6" you will probably be looking at the Tejon.

If you set your discrimination anywhere above the "F" in "FOIL" and you will start eliminating gold.

Best to set it just above "IRON", accept the fact that you're going to dig a lot of junk, and go for it!

Knock out pull tabs, and you knock out big gold.

Knock out foil, and you knock out small gold.

No avoiding that, I'm afraid.

Gold jewelry? I'd pick the Golden uMax in a heart beat, because of its ability to notch out trash. With a simple flip of the switch those ole rotten stinking zinc pennies and most pull tabs are GONE. It's great for coin shooting also. You can coin shoot and find gold at the same time without having to dig a bunch of junk in the process.

My next pick would be the Compadre, if you're looking for something super simple in a great performer. I call it the one knob wonder.

The Sidewinder Is a killer on all sizes of gold rings. I have sold my bandido II umax,Silver sabre umax and others but i will always keep my Sidewinder. (loves old deep silver also)

i agree with tabman i use both :detecting:
but the golden is my # 1 detector  it rocks :hot:

Like all women your girlfriend is going to want to find jewelry and to do that you have to do a lot of digging irregardless of the make and model of machine chosen. Like others said before me, the Tesoro Silver uMax is the machine of choice. A couple minutes instruction, and she will be swinging away like an old pro. Just tell her to keep that discriminator set down in the iron range and accept everything else. I hunt tot lots that way with mine and have no problems picking up jewelry items.

For me it has to be the Compadre - because when I go hit places like tot lots, I usually grab the Compadre most times.

ALL GOLD-Compadre
LARGER GOLD-any other tesoro. The Compadre has found the teeniest of earrings that $1000 detectors could not even sound on. It's a different animal-a different circuitry-it's just different. I sometimes still can't believe my eyes. I put off getting one for 3 years and when I finally got it I was so astounded I got to where I'm afraid I'm missing something using my other detectors. I don't know any other way to say it.

the Compadrea is fine for tot lots ,,,, if that is ALL your gonna hit then go for it,,,, but I can't see swinging it over a sports filed,,,, so for the fact that the Compadrea is a single purpose machine (IMHO) I still say Silver,, just my 2 cents,,,,

I agree. If the choice was only between the Compadre and and the Silver, I'd chose the the Silver also, because of the reason you stated However, if the Golden was in that group, I'd pick it in a heartbeat over the other two.

yeah me too bud !!

the golden is a great detector i use 1 :detecting:

I ended up after much angst buying the Cibola. I tried the Vaquero and liked it but didn't enjoy fiddling with the ground balance. It is defintiely light has good sensitivity and should work well on jewelry. I will find out. I also like the fact that I can get the 5.75" & Cleansweep coil for it.Let me hear from all you Cibola users what your experience has been regarding finding jewelry with it.

well if you want simplicity and you want to find gold jewelry go cibola 14khz is better for gold than lower freq, plus you have the H.O.T technology will punch deeper in mild soil, just as light as the others, plus has a pinpoint for the gal, thats my opinion!

I'll put my Conquistador Umax right in there too. Also had a Compadre which was no slouch for a turn and go.

I have a Silver umax. The Compadre beats the crap outa it on jewelry-period. And I just found a gold ring with my Silver a couple of weeks ago. So I'm not saying the Silver's a bad machine. I use it a lot.
