What is the best headphone to buy for MXT

What head phones would work for a 53 year old slight hearing problem.

White's pro star is what i am thinking about.

Black Widows are designed for people with hearing problems. Really well made. Love mine. Tinitus problems here.

This looks interesting, its a booster for the headphones and clips to your belt out of the way. Designed to let you hear very faint deep signals. It even lets you control the bass, treble, and midrange so if you have trouble hearing a certain tone it may allow you to change it enough to hear it better. I'm not a KellyCo fan but heres the link.....http://www.kellycodetectors.com/accessories/index.php?model=801-uga

I can't say enough about the SunRay Pro Gold headphones. I wouldn't have any other phones. HH, Nancy

Sunray is the one.Used them for years.:detecting:
Getting a second pair soon as a spair:thumbup:

I can't tell anyone what the best is for anything, that would assume I know everything, I don't. But I have had extensive experience with the Grey Ghost Ultimates, they work very well. But they have only one volume control for both sides. I just bought the Sun Ray Pro Golds and actually like them better than the GGU, and they have individual volume adjustments which I find appealing because my right ear has more hearing loss than my left so I can "customize" them if you will. Great phones! Good luck to you.

I can't speak of other brands, but my Sunray Pro Golds are the Bomb

The SunRay has the volume on each ear piece also. They also have a limiter switch also. HH, Nancy

My Sunray Pro Gold has a scratchy volume control on one side and you cant get the sound balanced. I sent them in for repair and they came back in the same condition. I use my rat phones most of the time they have better components and are built tougher. My koss TD80's have the best sound harmonics but are uncomfortable after a while. The Rat Phones took a while to break in and sounded flat but now the 20 to 20000 hz response is showing its benefits. Also my Pro Gold ear cups have cracked with age and it sounds tinney with no bottom end compared to my other phones now that I have the MXT Pro with tone ID. I like the Pro a lot better than the plain MXT that I had before.

I've had the Accusound Pro for 2 weeks. Got them from Kellyco for $99. They are great. I worked around fighter aircraft for quite some time and have alot of damage and they work great in my case. I spend 24 hours a day listening to jet engines running in my ears. Don

I have the same problem but been with me since birth. Tinitus is my issue. My ears have a high pitched sound something like 60 cycle hum or those cicada bugs. I use Black Widow headphones and find they really block out any extra outside noise the individual vol control and limiter switch are really great. Extremely well made as well. My family has been telling me I am talking louder than ever now so I guess my hearing is getting worse. I have been thinking about glasses that would have lights corresponding with the tones of the MXT Pro for when my hears goes all together. If you ever need a new set of phones the Black Widows sure get the job done.

RedRockNv, the lights that correspond to the pitch of the sound is an AMAZING idea! The low tones could be on one side of the color spectrum while high tones would be on the other. Also, like certain modes on the MXT, you could choose to display only 2 colors. One color below the disc setting and the other for everything above the disc setting. The light could be right above the LCD screen or even part of the screen or the entire screen(backlight). I really hope this is incorporated in a detector soon, You might even get Whites to take you up on your idea if its not already patented. Whites would be an awesome company to have your product sold under. For that matter, the light display could be stand-alone meaning that it could plug into the headphone jack and react with the tones just like your talking about with the glasses.

I have Tinitus as well, but not too bad at the moment, its been interesting hearing about the different head phones.
I'm new to the MXT300 as well. thanks for the infomation everyone.

It's really tough to pick headphones for others because we can each have different hearing challenges, and headphones might 'fit' some folks better than other. Even the 'tank style' ear-cup can be more comfortable for some due to their hear size and/or protrusion.

When it comes to headphone selection I have a couple of strong opinions that are much like those I share for someone shopping for a metal detectir. Don't go cheap! Cheap and inferios headphones woun't be comfortable. They can flop around and easily slip off your head if you bend over. They might pinch the ears. Often they don't block out enough outside noise. And the audio quality might be crappy, and the durability even worse.

Instead, shop for and invest money in a quality-built headphone that is comfortable, has good volume controls for each ear (because we can hear better or worse in one than the other), and that don't flop, that do block out the outside surrounding noise, and that sound good to you. Each detector can have a different audio all its own, such as the standard audio loudness or audio tone/pitch, and some headphones work better for some detectors than others.

So, I won't tell you what you need to buy, but I will suggest what I use, and why, and encourage you to consider these.:

I have had impaired hearing in my left hear since Vietnam. I lost most of the hearing in my right ear after a fall in 2010 where I ruptured my eardrum, then had infection and it healed with scar tissue. I have a hearing aid for my right ear that I haven't used in about 11 months, but need to as my overall hearing, both ears, has progressively declined. Whatever you do .... do get old and fall apart!

My main-use headphones for the past many, many years have been the Killer B 'Wasp' model. My 'backup' headphones have been of equal quality and performance, the SunRay Pro Gold. These have slight cosmetic differences but function virtually identical, since they are made with the same parts, same speakers, and by the same manufacturer, B&B Distributors.

Since last October I have mainly been using the White's ProStar headphones. They are as comfortable as the others I use, and maybe just a bit more so because they use the 'tank' style ear-cup, similar to the Killer B 'Hornet' model. I have enjoyed the ProStar headphones so well that my Killer B 'Wasp' and SunRay 'Pro Gold' headphones became by 'back-up' headphones. The ProStar headphones are made by White's, at White's, and have a Lifetime Warranty. From White's that means a lot.

If you have a local dealer to visit, check out several headphones for comfort and use a detector, such as your own MXT, to hear how it performance and how well you feel about the audio quality and comfort..

The question comes up fairly often and should I guess as our ears are our main interface with our machine. I agree with the post saying don't go cheap. I to have tinitus. I like to block as much outside noise as possible I have enough to deal with with what is coming from inside my head as well as coming from my machine. I got the Black Widows which are made for the hearing impaired. High quality but comfortable ear cups. Nice and tight so they don't bob around and keep errant noise out. Seperate volumne control and limiter switch. Very high build quality. You wouldn't be disappointed.

Honestly and professionally there is no best one to my knowledge.
It's what ever works best for you just .choose a good quality piece of equipment that you are comfortable with.
Depending on your hearing ability is the key on how you will choose your head set and don't go buy anything just because you've heard that it's the best out there because that's not smart thinking.
Do your own research. and you'll be impressed on how well your hearing has improved because of the choice you made.

I like my wireless TDK WR700 headphones. The freedom of wireless is amazing. Sometimes you can find them on sale for just over $100.
