what is the best disc settings for the g2 for relic hunting

32 is the choice here in Georgia !!!!

Disc. 35 sensitivity wide open if you can. Cuff buttons 56 and up- 3 ringers and high brass 60 - 80 this works pretty well in E. TN. Good headphones will make a huge difference because on fringe depth targets you may get a very low signal. Been finding some Gardner bullets that come in around 70-72. The main reason I use 35 is because we have been finding cannister balls from 38-45 according to the size. Your location and the targets you are recovering will be your deciding factor. Good luck. I've been using my disc at 32 and sensi. max. Ken is right at disc 32. It takes out nails. I am going to try using disc 19 this spring. The more disc you use the more you mask. Put some nails down and coin in the middle and try different disc settings.

Great suggestions here; here's another option...dig a few of the primary types of nails at YOUR site that you do NOT want to recover, and set the disc to where those nails are on the fringe of being disced-out. Then you can dig anything above that level...if you are still digging too many nails, increase it a tiny bit, until you hit the level that you are discriminating JUST ABOVE your site's nails, and yet NOT discing out the nail/good target juxtapositions...which should ID a little above what just the lone nail would ID. Meaning -- if the primary "lone nail" at your site is 31, and you disc at 31, then a nail/bullet together might hit at 33 or 34 (even though the bullet may have been 50 VDI with no nail present). Thus, you would NOT dig a 31 VDI nail, but COULD dig the 34 VDI co-located nail/bullet.

Great advice Steve. Have you notice if the good targets mixed with nails if the numbers bounce around a lot?

Rick --

Depends upon how close the two are located...if you can get the good target "separated" from the junk, using little wiggles, you can usually get some pretty steady numbers. If the "good" target is too close to the junk, though, then it's tough...

Thank you so much Steve for this information also!
