What is the best affordable probe,,,and also is there a probe that just detects at the pinpoint and not 360 degrees and how deep will these get??? Please explain

Vibra Probe, $100. Probes just off the tip, a true pinpointer. Strong and durable. Just Google it.

I have tried 5 or 6 different probes and they all stay home and I use the Vibra Probe, it is the best.

Go to GRAINGER and get a Westward "metal detector" for finding electrical wiring. Epoxy the wand in the open position. It works great, will only set you back about $18 and has a life time warranty,so if you wear it out or break it, just bring it back and they will replace it for free. The item # is 6JG68. The photo shows it in the closed position.

I was going to mention the Sun Ray inline probe but it's about $29 more than the figure you quote unless it's on sale. It has a depth up to five inches and you can actually detect with it, something you can't do with the other pinpointers. I have a field test on it at the top of the page.

Bill[/quote]I'm sure they are better. A little pricey for me. I don't like the thought of another detector hanging off my detector. One detector is enough for me to carry.

Sunray - Integrates with the machine, when you take the machine, its hard to forget it at home.
Uniprobe - Goes deep - did I say it goes deep.
Vibra Probe 560 - Built - works no matter what machine I take.

What I like about the Sun Ray - you can detect with it right up next to metal playground equipment ( or any metal ) and get all those coins you and everyone else would miss with a standard coil.

Yeah but double the pleasure, double the fun. :) Yeah they are a bit spendy. In all my years in this hiobby I never felt the need or desire for a pinpointer probe but since I tried this one I kind of like it. I use it more for detecting next to metal than I do pinpointing. I find a lot of coins up next to the metal playground equipment - totally out of reach with a standard coil.
