Hi

I found a number of these (please see attached image) while metal detecting in some local woods in Sheffield England.

They are 32mm diameter by about 12 mm thick and made form a heavy grey metal possibly lead. One in best condition has the following stamped on it
 
What you have are base plugs from M36 ( Mills) Grenades...there will be a date on each one..usually 2 numbers in a circle.
These were used from 1916 until the 70s..I have a few found here in Canada, and I have seen many dug in the UK on the UKDN
