Found this yesterday close to railroad tracks. There is a old distillery close by as well as an old church foundation. Does anyone know what it is?
ON TOP.... left stamped US...top right stamped IRS....bottom center stamped M.....with two holes punched.
On BACK...top stamped US....middle stamped 573039....bottom stamped IRS.
This thing is in two parts.
Thanks for the input!

Mystery solved.....I spoke with the person that runs the distillery. He says this is a "tag" used by the TTB "Tobacco & Trade Bureau". The federal agents would place the tag on the valve of the tank where the liquor was stored. If tampered with the Feds would know. These tags have not been used for years. He thinks this tag dates back to the 30's.
Thanks to all for looking, Nickel
