Came from CW site and is about the size of a dime and
about 3-4 times as thick. Richard
 
I'm thinking this looks like a lead seal that would hold either string or wire ends. They would be used to close something then the seal would be pressed over the loose ends. It looks like the ends could have entered (looking at this picture) on the top above the '76' and each end could have exited at the little tabs on either side of the 'A'.
And then again, I could be way off here! <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">
