What is it ? is it a meteorite ??

I would have it checked out at a university.the study i have done on them, almost all of them have a fusion or crust.
It also is very important to know the exact co ordinates it was found at if it is a meteorite.
I hope it is ,best of luck.

It almost looks like something that was from a foundry that was melted down at one time. I don't know how it could have ended up in a forest though. You may want to get it inspected at a local university or by an experienced geologist. Good luck!

My mom lives on property in the northern ozarks next to a huge pit mine. There are rocks everywhere out there exactly like that and matching your description. The mine is either iron ore or lead ore or both. I've found very nice fool's gold specimens out there too, so this might be iron ore of some kind... I believe some ores are non magnetic. A geologist would know for sure.

Looks like a heated rock found in a coal mine. You didnt say if it registered on the detector. Most meteorites have a dimping effect and like was said a crust or dough look.
