What is it? and what does it mean?

I found this and it is obviously an old coin, but what has been done to it and what does it mean? It looks professionally done.

Any ideas?
 
Maybe a key chain pendant or keep sake of some sort, it has soldier on it from what I don't know.
 
[size=medium]the eagle is from a 1838-53 Qtr. Dollar. looks like someone soldered it to something else or smoothed off the front of the Qtr. and put their own design on it.

Looks like some sort of Indian art...They used the Quarter for the silver background...

It is either a inca or mayan head dress, some one from south america fashioned. Where was it found? I would continue to search that area good. HH Wayne in Delaware.
 
I think this was the center of a belt buckle or a large bracelet...Probably more Silver and turquoise was on the whole item...

Looks like the letter P in old English lettering
 
I believe it is a love token.
They used to be pretty popular before the turn of the century.

It's a good find but why do the great coins have to mutilated?? lol

I found a 2 cent coin once,,US. Someone shot it with a .22.
