What is happening the Whites TDI no one is talking about it?

That's my question too...
...and I'd like to know if it is available there in the States (I live in Europe).

:ban: Talked to a long time dealer here in Calif., He said that until White's gave an intense training session he and other dealers he knows are not going to carry them. I understand they have a big learning curve.

Yeah...Like $1600.00 Definitely out of my league...need to find a few nuggets or diamond rings first...lol

[size=large]I'm referring to those using it on the salt water beaches and for nugget hunting applications. That's what it was designed for.

When it was first talked about just prior to it's release, all the 'hype' was about how it would compare with some of the popular deep silver coin hunting models from Minelab, mainly their Explorer series. While the TDI can be taken into an old park and can find some deep silver coins, there is no visual Target ID and no visual Coin Depth to help isolate those targets that are more likely to be copper or silver and over 3", for example. There's no audio Tone ID, that some like to use.

So, initially, all the hot talk was found here on these often-read forums, but these are where most coin hunters hang out. Okay, relic hunters, also, but typically those 'average' hobbyists. The TDI is not an 'average' detector.

You don't see people asking for reports on the GMT (Gold master Tracker) on this forum, because it was made for a specific task that most 'average' hobbyists are not into. Well, so was the TDI. More versatile than the GMT, but not for everyone. Not in their price range, not with the features they mostly want.

I'm certain that in time, by mid-Spring or 2009, perhaps, we will have many more reports from those who have learned the TDI and used it in the environment it was meant for, and the tasks it's best at.

Just my lengthy opinion.

Love my TDI. I've had it for two weeks now. My MXT sits in the truck waiting. I've only been coin hunting as things are getting cold up here in Alaska and work as a heating tech has priority.
The TDI has been a fairly easy machine to learn. And I still have a lot left to learn about it. I've been detecting only about 4 years now. If I can do it, I don't think you more experienced folks would have any trouble picking it up.
At a park I go to there is area of lots of trash. Foil, pull tabs usual stuff, lots of it.Set the TDI for High conductivity (high conductivity= low tones, low conductivity high tones), pulse delay 25, gain 6, ground balance on, ground balance set at 3-4, frequency in the middle, threshold faint hum. Stock 12" coil. I'm just estimating here,75% of the hits were coins(clad) to about a foot deep and never heard a peep from the foil and bottle caps. I only hear high conductors. With the pulse delay turned up you won't hear the small stuff (high or low conductors). I know that I'm missing nickels and most gold but this place was so trashy it drove me crazy to try to hunt it with my MXT and the 6" Eclipse shooter coil.
My setting to add nickels and most gold to the coins: conductivity- all, pulse delay-17.5, gain- 6, GB- on, GB set at 6, frequency in the middle, threshold- faint. By changing the pulse delay you affect sensitivity to small objects and will affect the GB setting. Turn the pulse delay all the way down and you hear it all.
I would also recommend a GOOD pin pointer when coin hunting. I use a Detector Pro Pocket Uniprobe
This machine is more than just a beep and dig it all machine. It was $1499.00 in stock at Alaska Mining and Diving.
Any one with ?'s I'll try to answer with what I know. Happy hunting, Dave
