What is E-Series?

Hi, I'm owner of a Spectrum XLT (gone insane, see my previous post). It's a classic one, with the rainbow on box and coil.

Looking around (just in case I have to buy another one) I see that most of dealers offers "E-Series" model (also for DFX).

Time ago, sombody told me that E-series are less powerful than rainbow series, perhaps because of the new coil.
I remeber also a discussion about coils with thin wires (the old ones) and thick wires (the new ones).

What is the truth? What are the differences between rainbow and e-series models?

Thanks
Gico

Basically the decals are the only differences and a few minor tweaks in the programing. I have the rainbow version too. Marketing in a different package is it.

...I am sure there have been some internal tweaks. Whites runs a good show.
They seem to keep pace with the market and demands of the detectors being put out....I honestly can not tell the difference in using the ones I have.
Unless falsing is the difference..The newer E-series does seem a little more stable in trash over my rainbow series. The rainbow gets a little more erratic in heavy trash. I also noticed using the newer e-series I can read the screen longer before it fades and they are set identical. There may be other slight difference, Maybe not..Maybe it's just a machine to machine difference. Both work very well, and go deep enough for me.Not trying to talk you out of buying a new one but Whites can repair your rainbow series for near nothing compared to purchase of a new machine. You would have to decide if it's worth the freight and money spent. What kind of shape it's in etc etc.....Or like the rest of us you may have decided it's time for a new machine. When that happens just get it and be done with it."Cause thats the only thing that will satisfy your needs". HAHAHa..Set the other one aside save up your finds....send it in, get repairs, and now you have a great back up machine as well as your new XLT...Remember this is "The Hobby that pays for it's self...Happy hunting Sir....
