What is better than a Timex that keeps on ticking? :wiggle:

A GoPro that keeps on clicking!

The below pictures tell it all. EXCEPT...

That after finding the GoPro, my next two targets were RINGS, one stainless
steel and the other tungsten carbide. Also I have spent about $35 on a case
with new (clear) lens and adapters so my grandson can use the GoPro.

These three targets made for a fun evening as a few bits of trash were the only
other targets recovered.

From looking at the last picture on the SD card, my best guess is that the GoPro
was underwater for almost a year and moved about a quarter mile. Yes the battery
was dead, but a 4 hour charge brought it back to life. Long live the GoPro.

The GoPro had never been registered and no info in the pictures helped in IDing
the original owner.

Thats amazing...that is the 3rd go pro ive heard of being found under water and every one of them worked.... cool find....

Nice find! I'm hoping to find a GoPro too. Doing video is not a priority for me so the new price is not something I'm inclined to spend; but $35 for a new case for a found one that works is worth it!

I see more of them showing up at the beach being carried or mounted in various ways. That means more to be lost and found!
Cheers,
tvr

That is so cool. Nice score. I found enough drowned phones....I want a go-pro too!!
I use a water proof camera (Panasonic) but still keep it in a water tight container around my neck when hunting. I also have a picture stored on it that has my name and contact info should I lose it.

The Go Pro Hero 2 that I found last month reportedly works. My Neighbor (police officer) charged the battery and tells me that it works like it should. Of course I am so dumb that I havent the foggiest Idea how to use one them. Oh well maybe I can find an owners manual.

Dude, seriously, you can do it! Just go online and get an owners manual. If you can deal with the systems on a Navy sub, a silly little digital camera should be a cake walk. Don't let the "I can't" mentality make you freeze up - you can! You are not dumb! :nono:

Some of us that joined the Navy, back in the 60s might just have a bit of a challenge. I joined for 4 years, tried it for 20, found out I did not like it so I retired. Now I am LOVING it! Remember that was the time before any of today's computer driven marvels. The Timex-Sinclare build your own computer had 1K YES 1K of memory. You could make it show your name on a TV set. Most of the electronics were discrete components and vacuum tubes. Black and white photos from Kodak film was much cheaper than the KodaColor film. Cigarets were 10 CENTS a pack and a haircut was 25 cents. Oh well:

16 empty tubes, mushroom clouds on the horizon, and now its Miller time! and keep in mind:

Sub sailors go deeper and stay longer.

Fair winds and following seas...

If you don't understand the above, ask a sub sailor.

What kind of metal did you hear when finding something like that? I ignore all iron targets so I assume I would miss things like this.

That's an awesome find! Too bad for whoever lost it, but they should have some ID on something like that...I would think. And that's a good tip, bob.oz

From my experience, a solid iron target makes a horrible sound and normally goes totally quiet at some time when in discriminate on an excal. A mixed tone of good and quiet sounds always gets a dig from me. Most of my large bracelets, including gold bangles, and watches gave me a mixed tone and the Excal tone of indicating something large. I dig them anyway cuz you never know. My method is simple to me, if it goes quiet, I keep going, if it makes mixed sounds, I dig. Good luck..

I bet they hit high like a cell phone? Never found one, so I dont know for sure...another thing, it wont be long until one of us finds a drone, seems they fly off never to be seen again......CL is full of posts about lost drones...Nice find there, WW!:clapping:

The GoPro was found with the Garrett ATX. The camera would have copper, gold, tin, lead on the circuit board, an aluminum front panel but NO iron. To tell you the truth, I don't remember if it was a hi-lo or lo-hi signal I heard. This time of year I dig ALL signals, unless it is a loud signal over a very large area. The last signal I pulled to shore that gave the loud signal over a very large area was a resort's beach lounge chair.

When the GoPro goes out again it will have name, address and phone number inside the case. I could even put a return address sticker under the lens area, covering up the HERO 3. Great idea, thanks.

Guess I will have to put a drone on the bucket list of things to find. My summer detecting partner has ordered one that will follow him while he detects. I can't wait to see how it does.

I joined the Navy in 1959. After Boot Camp and Radioman School the Navy saw fit to send me to an Amphibious Dock Ship. I quickly realized that the Amphibious Navy was not my cup of tea. We would pull into port, tie up at a buoy, sit there till 5 pm before we could leave the ship. That was after three weeks at sea.

The Submarines came into port, tied up the ship, put the brow over to the pier and 2/3rds of the crew hit the beach. I knew that Submariners got paid better, heard they ate better (it would not have taken much to be better) and from where I was standing they were treated better.

So I volunteered and 5 submarines later I retired. Found out that I was correct in my assumptions about the Boats. Rode one old diesel boat, Two Missile boats and two fast attack boats. I guess I qualify as a Submarine Sailor.

Thought about making the Navy a career but after 20 years i had enjoyed enough so I retired. .

If my Excal gives me tones I dig it. Yes I did a good bit of trash but once in a while something that I would not expect comes out of the sand. My best day was a Go Pro Hero 2, Platinum ring and then a Hugo Boss watch. Go Pro battery was dead but the watch is running nicely and it found a spot it likes on my left wrist.

Some folks take a picture of a sheet of paper with their Name, Address, Phone number with a request that if found Please Return.
