What is best coil for Silver Saber U-max?

New member
I like the stock 8" donut coil, but was considering a 5.75". I primarily use this unit for parks and tot-lots. I have heard that the widescans work well. Need advice.

I've always liked the 8" donut on mine, closely followed by the 7" concentric. The only widescan I have any experience with is the 7" and it gives up a 1/2 to 3/4 inch depth compared to the concentric and a bit more compared to the 8" donut. I haven't tried the 5.75 but it should be good in trashy parks and tot lots. I recently purchased one, but at 5 degrees and 6 inches of snow, I haven't had a chance to use it.
Dig deep, dig often,

The 7 is realy Hot on coins anywhere (concentric that is.)
My Badido2 Rocked with that small coil and i never realy noticed any
real depth loss at all.
But a increase in sensitivity to realy tiny items like chains and busted up jewelry.
I dont think you could go wrong on either small coil choice.

I keep tha 7" concentric on my SS uMax.

I am considering puttin tha 8" stock coil
back on it for a while.

I like both tha 7" and 5.75".

I have not used a DD coil.

[size=medium]7" concentric coil.

I'd pass on the wide-scan coils for this model for most applications as they do loose some depth. The newer 5

Monte says it perfectly in my opinion.
