Last weekend at the old Boy Scouts camp site, I came across some, I'm not sure which one, as the leaves haven't grown back yet. I'm pretty sure I got it from the roots in the swamp. My hands are killing me with itches!!!! Any home remedies would help greatly.

I am putting hydrocortozine on it, and straight bleach, but it still itches like crazy!!!!

Spray it with old fashioned hair spray. That was straight from a doctor years ago. Works to.

I think it is too early , but there is this pale green plant that grows in moist shady areas with a orange like bloom that has a very juicy stalk , it will dry poion ivy up in a day or two. I wish I knew the name of it.

That plant is jewel weed or wild impatience. It grows around poison ivy. If you get in ivy, crush the juice out of the plant and put it on where the ivy touched you. Wait and it doesn't work as well. The ivy juice bonds with the skin. Your body fights the ivy and also destroys your own flesh. That is why there are blisters and you Itch.

This works---- Take wet rag and rub it until it feels great then pour rubbing alcohol on it and it will be gone in two days..... you have to rub raw the pockets of oil that is on your skin and the alcohol will dissolve it-- Graw

For some reason, I seem to be immune to the effects of those plants.
I've never had a case of "poison ivy" even though I've been around it
many times. Ditto for the others..

Im with WIlly - OUCH! Rubbing it raw to opn the sores and then dousing those with alcohol sounds painful. And wont the rubbing just spread the oil around?

Probably the best cure is avoidance. Learn to know the stuff and stay out of it.

Ive heard of the hairspray trick, but havent tried it.

man my arms and legs are covered in poison oak and red ant bites my girl friend called me an idiot i told her to stop bitching as long as it ain't on my " thing thing" she has nothing to worry about. but i carry a bottle of alcohol and when it starts itching i splash it on.
