...blessed us abundantly and I am overwhelmed by peoples generosity. I want to share this, with a humble heart, to tell how the Holy Spirit has been working to meet our needs.
I went into the office at work to ask my manager about the possibility of getting Sunday off if a room opened up at the Ronald McDonald house. He said it was no problem and that they had missed me at the company Christmas party. It was Wedn. evening, the day we went to Vandy for Brian's pre-op. We got home in time to go but I was just too tired to go. He handed me an envelope and it contained a check, my Christmas bonus. It was totally unexpected and enough to cover one nights stay at a motel if needed. Wow, it was totally unexpected.
Then I had a customer come in. She had purchased some furniture from me a few months ago and brought a friend in with her. She had brought this friend in after she had made her purchase to show her what she bought. She thanked me for the Christmas card I sent her and said they were just going to look around a little. Well, I checked back with them after about 20 minutes and she ended up buying a new living room suite!! Wow, again!! Now, when they were in before I must have told them about Brian, I have no idea why I would have unless something in our conversation brought it up, or maybe I got a call from Carol or a doctor or something, I just don't remember. But, after loading a chair into her car she asked me how Brian was doing and I told them about the upcoming surgery. They both said they would pray all went well with the surgery and I could tell that they really meant that, they were sincere.
A few minutes later I was with another customer when an announcement over the paging system that I had another customer waiting on me. I couldn't break away from my present customer because she was explaining to me what she was looking for. I looked to see if I could tell who it was when the lady who had brought her friend in earlier came walking toward me. My first thought was that I had made a mistake on the ticket or that maybe they wanted to make a change. She walked right up to me while I was with my customer and handed me a Christmas card. She and her friend had taken the time to run over to a nearby Christian book store to get it. Wow!! I was overcome with emotion. But, I had to control my emotions because I still had to help my present customer. I slipped the card into my jacket pocket without opening it and got back to business.
About 30 minutes later my customer left and I was sitting with a co-worker and just thinking about all that had transpired the last couple of days. I had been blessed in so many ways and I was just silently thanking God for all of his blessings. All of our needs for this surgery, a motel room if needed, food, gas and all the misc. expenses involved with our upcoming stay have been met, by God's grace and abundance. And then to top it off a customer, a sister in Christ, goes out of her way to purchase and hand deliver a Christmas card to me. It was just too much!! I can't accurately describe how I felt, I just don't have the vocabulary to express my emotions. But, I knew the Holy Spirit had moved these wonderful people to act.
Then I remembered that I hadn't opened the envelope. I pulled the card out and on the front it said:
God understands the pain. As your Shepherd, the Lord is always watching...always keeping...always providing...always defending...never forsaking. You are never forgotten...always loved!
When I opened up the card two, one hundred dollar bills fell out...and I about fell over. I was totally, totally... overwhelmed by their generosity, their love and their caring. Then I remembered how to describe how I felt.
Exactly the way I felt one day before Christmas two years ago when Brian and I went to meet Mike from MI. He and his family came to TN and we spent a day together with our kids geocaching and we all had a great time together. Before we left, Mike handed Brian an envelope containing $300 in cash and gift certificates to Toys-R-US. In addition, he gave me another envelope containing $100 for our daughter Sarah. It was a gift from many of you on this forum and will never be forgotten. How did I feel?
Stunned...shocked...but most importantly blessed...and loved...not because of the monetary value but the true value of the gift...a warmed heart and re-newed spirit knowing that their are real people, true Christians who really care. Who really pray and act to meet others needs.
To say we have been blessed this year is an understatement. Thank you Father, for moving all these wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ to pray for and help meet, our needs. Thank you guys for the greatest gift we could ever recieve, your thoughts and prayers throughout the year.
God bless and Merry Christmas!!
