What I saw that night....is still a mystery.

One night, in the early 80's, I was up late (as usual), playing on my computer. I was about 12 at the time. I used to stay up and play games all the time. I guess it was around 2:00 am. Mom and dad were asleep. I was into my game when I noticed the dog kept barking. He was tied up in the back yard. He barked alot so I ignored it. But Sydney my Australian Shepard sounded spooked, different in some way, and this made me curious. I know my pet as most of you all know yours, and something wasn't right with Sydney. He was barking like someone (he didnt know) was outside messing around. Well I didn't want to wake my parents up cause they had to work. So I looked out the window and saw that a thick fog was hanging in the air. I couldn't make too much out, because a tree by my window obscured my view. I thought that maybe someone was trying to steal something. I started to go outside to check it out when Sydney really sounded scared. This made me scared, so I ran to the kitchen and got a steak knife out of the drawer. I ran to the outside door and turned on the porch light. I opened the door and yelled, "What is it boy"? He just kept on barking and whimpering. I knew I had to check on him, "maybe he's hurt" I thought. I then summoned up my courage and walked toward him, holding the steak knife straight out in front of me. I could see as I approached him that he was stretched all the way to the end of his chain, straining to get loose. He was looking out in the cow pasture that is behind our house. (We have about 120 acres) I called to him again, "Sydney what is it boy!!!??" I had tingles all over, like something was about to jump out at me. I looked in the direction where he was looking and I saw a mass of thick fog. My eyes were getting use to the dark, and it was then I saw something through the fog....... about 100 yards away or less I could see a shape sitting in the field. I was a pyramid. At least from what I could tell. I appeared to be sitting on the ground or barely over it. This shape in my estimation, appeared to be around 20ft. high. It made no noise that I could hear, and had no lights. It looked to be metallic and I could see light from a distant street light shining off of it. It didn't move..... but boy I did! Thoughts of being abducted by aliens entered my head! I untied the dog and we both ran to the house! I ran to my room and turned off the lights and looked out the window, but couldn't see anything. Needless to say, Sydney slept with me that night. In the morning I walked out into the field about where I saw this thing, but found nothing. I live about 2 miles from Ft. Knox and as I look back on it now we may have seen an experimental craft from the army or maybe, just maybe we saw a UFO. I will never know. I have thought back many many times, that I should have walked out to it, to get a better look. I wish I had. I was too scared to then. Sydney saw it, and I saw it. What it was, I'll never know. But one things for sure, there was something in the field that night!

there was sure something there. Dogs don't seem to have much of an imagination and your dog sure saw something!!
I am sure you are sorry you didn't investigate further but I sure the hell wouldn't have either!!
Thanks for the interesting post!! How long ago was that??

oh, 7-8 years ago. My buddy and I were there at low tide...meaning 2 in the morning. I watched a car descend the mountain on the island opposite the bay. It came down the mountain [at least I saw the lights], went along the shore and then, 'drive' across 1 mile of open water to the next island and then took off, straight up.
That was my first experience with the 'unknown' and unidentified.
All the best

only the ocillating fan to keep me cool, for we had no air conditioning back then. But as I gazed out the window, looking at the stars, I spotted two rather unusual colored "stars". They would hover, then zip way over to the other side of the sky. I watched this go on and on. I really got scared, and pulled the sheet up under my chin. I don't know why I thought that would protect me, but I was pretty young. I sweated so much, but I was so scared I couldn't make myself get out of bed and go to mother and daddy's bedroom. I finally fell asleep, and the next morning I told my daddy about it. "Well", he said to mother "I bet they were space ships with martians riding in them, don't you Momma?". (he was making fun of me, thinking I dreamed it I guess.) Mother said, "don't be telling her stuff like this, daddy." She was taking up for me, and daddy got a laugh.
I know it was not stars, it was something different, but one will never know.

...ole' Linda was not interested in him, but Tom and I have ragged that gal about him FOREVER~
When we were little she would really get put out with the both of us and her threatening to tell Daddy usually made us quit for a season.
Ole Chuckie, try as he may, never caught her. That's because, he bein' a city boy, could NO WAY climb trees or run though the woods the way Linda could.
Butch, Gary, Buddy, Rex and Ray all had the biggest time pullin' her chain about Chuckie.
That situation is SOLID PROOF that God is merciful. If Linda had weighed anywhere within ten pounds of any of us, we would have been dead meat, no joke.
Ole Chuckie was a reeeeaaaaall WINNER!
I can hear it now. "Linda and Chuckie sittin' in a tree...."

I am proud of the little gal for having the sense not to trifle with the feller!! He was not for her

It's weird because it seems like yesterday. The fog was the kind that lays low to the ground, and clear about 10ft up or so. I know the fog wasn't obscuring my view... the distant street lamp was shining on "it". Life is full of mysteries eh?

like that a few times after taking a couple of "blue pills" in the early 70s!

Because I know Linda has some MORE photos somewhere.
She never throws anything away. I just know that if I start THAT one, I won't have the horsepower to finish it!
