What Headphones would you recommend for the AT Pro?

I use Grey Ghost NDT"S because I have hearing loss, and I can adjust each ear independently.

I use the Garrett underwater head phones. I originally bought them so I could go in the water with the AT Pro and not worry about damaging my head set. After I put them on and used them I found them to be very good fitting and light weight and with a much better length cord.

I had planed on using my better set that I use on the Bounty Hunter by getting the cable extension modification. I will not be doing that now as I really like these Blue under water Garrett Head phones.

Not sure if others would agree with me but I really do like them a lot. Just my opinion.

How important is it to use Headphones designed for metal detecting vs just the ear buds i use for my MP3 player?

Headphones that block out the environmental noises are a blessing in certain conditions. On a beach the water, kids, wind are all problems. Blocking it all out helps your concentration and ability to hear the deep ones. If you ever hunted in a 30 mph wind you will see the need for headphones. Especially when it is 30 degrees. Plus most detecting headphones have a separate volume control for each ear. Very handy for people with hearing problems. And most of us have them. And to top it off most quality headphones have a volume limiter to keep the surface targets from blowing your socks off. In hot conditions and seedy environments (man and snakes) you need to remain aware of what is going on. Most people have a summer pair and winter pair. Me I use RATS MSA phones. The best I ever found. And no longer made.

I agree in hot weather in cold weather not so much. Cold wind can send you home in a hurry. Also environmental noise can wreck your day with ear buds. I stick with head phones for the most part. I have a lite weight pair when the environment allows and heavy pair for when it doesn't.

I like the Sunray Gold use them on the beach. I also use these headphones when warm or in not so nice neighborhood:

I have used them for years. My 4th set. It is life time warranty. I live a few miles from Koss. Just call them a day ahead and go there and pick a new set up when broken. Thanks for reading. Happy Trails....Z
