What happened to my post?

I think that was the post that got a little wild with the UK guy wasn't it?

That simply is not true Bug. I openly talk about the Minelab's and I use the SE Pro myself. You are trying to start trouble on here like you have on other forums. This is your only warning on here, be good or be gone!.....:nono:

OK, Rather than get involved in the debate, I will try to answer the question you have posed. First of all, I do not work for White's, but I do count one of their employees as a friend and detecting buddy. End of disclosures.

I bought a used XLT in August of 2006 and enjoyed using it a lot. I bought a Vision (now V3) about three weeks ago. Here's what I have noticed:

1--The V does WAY better on nickels than the XLT.
2--With the V I can tell the difference coins and bottle caps way better than with the XLT. Also, nails are easier to discriminate.
3--Because of the high 22.5 frequency, gold jewelry is easier. I have seen V users find gold jewelry each of the last two weeks.
4--The XLT was introduced and is largely unchanged since 1994. The V uses the very latest research and development and takes advantage of everything White's has learned in the last 15 years to make their best general-use detector yet.
5--At the club hunt today, I was the only person to find a silver ring and a silver dime. A DFX user found a silver bracelet, and a Minelab SE user found a buffalo nickel, but no one else found a silver coin but me. This in a park that has been hunted hard for years.

Those are the first 5 reasons that come to mind that I am glad I have added a Vision (V3) to my XLT.

I hope this helps. It isn't my intention to put down the other detectors mentioned above, just to relate the facts of one particular hunt on one particular day.

Best wishes in making your decision.

Mike

Mike - This is one of the best posts yet on the Vision. Why? Because you simply reported some real world comparisons and observations of the Vision as compared to other machines. I think that's all a bunch of possible Vision owners want to see. Thanks again.

David, i agree with you about Mikes post. Thanks to everybody who responded. For my kind of hunting, old coins in iron infested areas, i think
i will stick with my ole trusty Xlt. I have dug a lot of nice old coins with square nails over, under & all around them at the same time. The XLT
is hard to beat in this area. I am no expert by any means but after thousands of hours in the field with many friends with different machines you
see patterns develop. I know a Bounty hunter interferes with my machine. I know nothing i have ever seen can compete with a Nautilus on depth.
I know the Green machine has a bell tone and doesn't do well around iron, but it has a true all metal that goes down to the devil. I would buy a new machine in a heartbeat if it had distinct advantages over my XLT in the areas i hunt. Not convinced yet... But i would love to be because i want
more old coins. This is the best hobby in the world no matter what machine you use.

Sounds to me like you are happy with what you have and that it's serving you well. Ok then, congratulations, you just saved a bunch of money!

One of my best detecting buddies has an XLT and I know he has found hundreds of silver coins and two $10 gold coins in the past few years. There is definitely nothing, not a thing, wrong or bad about the XLT. Notice, I didn't sell mine when I bought the V3!

I look forward to seeing your finds if you choose to post them.

Best wishes,

Mike

Hey Mike, check out page 38 of Western & Eastern Treasures Best Finds Issue. Even a blind hog finds a nut every now & then.
This could have been found by a beginner with a $35.00 radio shack special.
