What hand-held pin-pointer should I buy?:poke:

I am researching to buy a hand-held pin-pointer; What is the best value/quality without spending a fortune? Willie:detecting:

Hi Willie,
I haven't tried any of the pinpointers but the vibraprobe 560. All I know, is that I'm very satisfied with it. It's a rugged, waterproof unit that runs on 1- 9 volt battery, and the battery lasts a long time. I bought mine on e-bay for under a hundred. Now I think they have come out with the vibroprobe 570, but I'm not sure how it could be much better than the 560.

I agree...

The VibraProbe is a great pinpointer...It is larger than some pinpointers, but the feedback is much better than a lot of the ones on the market...The Vibrations get stronger and faster as you near your target. The distance from tip to target is good also...

I must say, I am very impressed with the all around knowledge through out these forums. I know I have a much better shot of findings by just reading all of your posts. Thank you all for sharing your wealth of knowledge.

That probe looks nice...I like the tip on it...if it is all it says it is, I would get one...Has multiple uses, and the white LED would definitely come in handy in my night hunts.

HH,

[attachment 77371 PICT2150.JPG]Ordered the Tinytec pin pointer on Wed it arrived today. Have not got to try it out yet, but air test seemes to be 2". Like the ad stated they sent me three 1.00 gold coins.

Will let all know how it does. Here is the web site if anyone is interested.

You sure can't beat the price ! It's actually well reviewed on metaldetectorreviews.net (which seems to be down at the moment, but the google cached version still comes up).

Only thing is it looks a bit bulky, how heavy is it ? It even has a 25 month warranty..hmm...

The pin pointer seems to work good, have not had a chance to go out to much as of yet. Did play around with it and it would detect small foil less than 1/8 of an inch in the soil. As soon as I can I will let you guys know more. I am a recovering cancer patience, so it is kinda hard to get out at times, but all is good as of now. Should be able to get out more as the weather seems to be getting warmer here in GA. All take care and stay safe.

I have a Treasure Mate, and a VibraProbe on the way to me, I am very interested to see how they compare. I am off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; I hope to be out hunting each day weather permitting. Going back into the 30's on Wednesday, as long as the ground does not go into tundra mode, I will be in swingin mode!

just got my treasure mate and tried it out for the first time today.I am new to detecting but this is the coolest thing in the world.I have a tracker IV and the treasure mate really up'ed my finds

Awesome, that is what I wanted to hear! My Treasure mate should be here Monday! :detecting:

I am still using the Teknetics pin-pointer, but I have modified it....I opened it up, and replaced the buzzer with a bigger one from Rat Shack...I also tweaked the one variable resistor on the board so that I now can detect a penny at about 2" from the tip...This seems to be a sensitivity adjustment...Be careful if anyone disassembles the unit...The Buzzer is a 6V variety...note that if you increase the size, you decrease the battery life. Also, the wires to the battery and the buzzer are long, and easily pull off the board...if you do not know how to trace a circuit, you may not know where they go if they pull loose. this happened to me the first time I took it apart, and took me about 5 min to figure out where the buzzer wires re-attached to...The Teknetics is cheap, and I would not recommend it to anyone who does not already own one....This is one item, I would LOVE to see First Texas drop, or redesign...
