What features would you like on a new model Tesoro

The topic was getting so long .......... I started a new one... Thank you.

lol

Lets face Tesoro hasn't had a good analog ID unit since the Toltec 100....a lightweight version would be a start....

I think that it takes a lot to compete with ID detectors in the day and age of instant gratification. I made a mock-up of what I would like to see a couple days ago, you can see it as my avatar. It was just for fun, and now the more I think about it, the less I like the idea of having another TID machine. They just made me lazy and all the more disappointed when I would dig some trash thinking I had hit something good. And at that with a 800$ machine. It made me focus more on what I was reading rather than what I was hearing. And over time, I learned to quit looking at the LCD and focus on what I was hearing. Whites MXT is a good machine.

More to the point. I would love to see Vaquero depth with the Golden Umax notching. I would drop 600$ quick on such a machine. The only reason I haven't bought a GuMax as of today is because of its reported lack of depth and! lack of a ground balance.. These, and 30$ more buys a Vaquero...

So what we need Tesoro!!!

Golden Umax Notching - Not the crappy LCD based put an X through pulltab notching. But the knob controlled, precise notching the GuMax offers! I know you can notch more with the lcd style...

Physical ground balance - No more presets on 400$ plus machines! And a flip of the switch auto ground tracking feature.

Vaquero Depth

Multiple audio presets. I'm thinking its the F75 that offers this. Say 5 presets. Preset one being 1 mid tone. Two being 1 high tone. Three being GuMax tones.....ect ect.. Small 5 position rotary knob.

I know I already posted in the last thread. I'm thinking I may have to look into buying some Tesoro stock in order to get this going lol.

How about... A Vaquero with...

Manual Ground balance with a toggle switch that enables Auto Ground tracking circuitry if selected.
Toggle switch for three Audio modes, VCO, Linear analog audio Non VCO (single tone, deep target small beep, shallow target big beep), Tones 3 for audio ID while coinhunting.

Notice how many focus on the vaquero and want a move up from there? Congrats tesoro on creating such a wonderful machine as good as the tesoro vaquero. I'm still for the V-pro.
I would love to see the V amped up.

I can see the headlines now. tesoro vaquero vs. Minelab gpx 4500

We need a relic hunting Monster.

Just the addition of three tones to my Vaquero would be nice, but it really doesn't need anything else. Perfect just the way it is.......light weight and powerful.

The Vaquero is all the rage right now, but what happened to the guys that like the Tejon? I think that if the Tejon had no motion pinpoint and a low frequency option it might be more popular. However, I'm liking the one I have more than any Tesoro I've had so far (Eldorado, Cibola, and a used Tejon that was abused).

Does anyone know how often Tesoro comes out with a new model on avaerage? I know it's been a whilw since their last.

how much?

Personally they can stay with non-ID machines. Haven't had one yet you can trust and that's because they can't be that accurate due to ground and target variables. As others stated, a ramped up Vaquero, with trigger pinpoint and at least 3 tone audio and a depth gauge would be nice minimal upgrades. Multi frequency, auto ground balance and waterproof would be icing on the cake.

I hunted with a guy that used the Tejon while relic hunting and in the totlots, he had owned the Tejon for 2 years and was an experience user. Although the Tejon is a great machine with some sweet features - I would choose the Vaq over it in a heart heat for most hunting purposes. It was hunting with him that gave me such confidence in my Vaquero.

1) The vaq has a fairly stable threshold. The T does not.

2) Vaq has lightning fast target response, this helps the threshold re-tune quickly after hitting a target, or high mineral spot. It also helps to give a sharper rise in threshold pitch when over a deep target, making it easier to differentiate between a target and a change in the ground matrix.

3) DEPTH. I know not all will agree with me on this one, but I seen it for myself. That's all I'm gonna say.
The T has the edge when it comes to the deeep iron.

Well, all I know is that the one I have this time can easily hunt deeper than the other Tesoros I've had and any machine that can still register a good target at 8"-9" in moderate ground, with foil disc out, is a good beep dig machine. Besides, I didn't buy mine to hunt tot lots, parks, or schools, kind of a waste of its depth capability and I have a TID machine for that. I got it to hunt for old coins at homesites, old churches, and for relics, what it was designed for. The recovery on mine seems plenty quick enough too. Glad you love your Vaquero, but I like having dual disc.

The more features the more weight , and the higher the price .....and the more that can go wrong with a machine ....That shoots the entire Tesoro philosophy in the foot !!...... KISS ..... Think light weight ......A 3 tone Vaquero with a trigger pinpoint ...... No numbers , no icons, no fancy LCD ....just TONES !!!...... That should keep the weight and the cost down ......Any higher and you might as well buy whats already on the market ..... I own a BUNCH of various machines, but the thing that brings me to a Tesoro is the ease of use , the light weight , the fast recoverty , and I can just throw it in the back of my car and go !!..... It's got it's own place carved into my arsenal .....Jim

Although I've had my Vaquero for a short time, I do like the RED pinpoint button. I do agree with most of you all that Tesoro should incorporate at least 3-Tone in their new detector. Low - Nails, Iron and such; Mid - Nickels, Gold Rings, Yes, pulltabs too and High - Most U.S. Coins, Everything Silver. I've tried a buddies M6 and really like the melodic tones that is has. And an adjustable Threshold.

Just my 2cents,

TC-NM

One thing I would like to see added would be different knobs than the ones they are currently using. The stock knobs are not one finger friendly especially with gloves on. I switched out my knobs with hexagonal ones I bought at radio shack. They work much better and are easy to manipulate with one finger. Even with gloves on.
