Early last week, I declared my season over. Little did I know that on that day, we would start a warming trend here in Southern MI, which would keep our temps around freezing for over a week. As a result, our snow has slowly been melting. What's better, is that the ground is soft underneath.

Due to family commitments and my work schedule, I haven't been able to get out until today. I went looking for a likely-looking spot, and finally found an clear picnic area under some pine trees. After a little searching, and a few clad coins, I pulled up a Wheat, a '45. 10 minutes later, up comes a '51D Wheat. After that, the chilly breeze started taking it's toll on me, so I came home to warm up.

Same down here in Missouri.

We had several days of warming and wet weather and got out yesterday. Hit the old scout camp that I've pounded and pounded. Ended up with 10 coins,of which three were wheats from the 50's and a 36 wheat. No silver. Six of the ten were 64 or older. 272 coins out of there of which 20 were silver and my only buff. Ground is soaked from melted snow & rain. Might go out this afternoon since we had another downpour last night. Would have been nice to start the year with silver but being able to dig on January 1 is nice in itself.

about being here in MI is that I usually am able to get out and hunt in between storms, after the snowfall melts. Usually, I'm able to get out on the 1st of Jan. A couple years ago, I hunted two weeks into Jan. before the really cold weather set in.

This year, we had a long cold snap early in Dec., but now are experiencing a warming trend. Who knows what this winter is going to be like?
