What exactly is the deal with the (code ) on the new Spectra V3?

Ive heard that there is some sort of code that can be, or has to be, entered into the vision by the original owner, and that it can not be changed by the next owner .Is it intended as some sort of theft deterent? If you buy a used Spectra V 3 from someone and they forget to give you the code, would it keep you from using it?

No, not at all. The owners name just cannot be removed, unless you have the code. The machine will still work.

If the original owner forgets the password, and but the paperwork is correct, Whites can fix the problem. The fix is the detector must be reprogrammed, all saved programs will be lost, and it won't be free. That's why the instructions tell you to save it in several places. Rob
