What exactly is it ??

Found it in my backyard after work today. First thoughts were a napkin holder but it looks too small. Looks like some sort of base metal dipped in gold something or other.

Curtain tie back sleeve?

Good guess. It could be. The opening is smaller than a dime, and it weighs a little over 3/4 of an ounce.

looks like a spacer piece from a rod of some type. maybe from a lamp or some type ferrule. maybe a piece of costume jewelry, some of that stuff was big and gawdy. its what makes this fun.

lamp part was my guess also

Well,,its definitely ornamental,,made to make something look pretty!! lol Some thoughts that come to mind?? Its a sleeve and something was inside,,,its not there anymore ,,so I'm thinking its material that will rot away over time. Something wooden!!

And that brings me to think it was a piece for a smokers Pipe ,,a cap just after the mouth piece or inlaid somewhere among it. lol
Well,,I tried to help.

Looks too girly to be from a pipe...I am thinking the top decoration for an umbrella maybe???

HH,

I'm thinking maybe some kind of thimble that the rubber or metal rotted off of.....or possibly a napkin holder????

I vote for the lamp part.

After close examination I think we may never know exactly what it is. I'm thinking decorative spacer for electric lamp of some sort. To hide the wire.
