ok..first just let me say i love fisher, since my id edge,3 cz's a f19 and finally my f75 (well, before i sent it for the upgrade 
).. heres my sad tale ....
late last year i bought a nice used f75 ltd non dst, running 7A software i think it was..now,most on here that know me, im in Australia...now, my new to me f75 ltd v7 was excellent,only once did emi affect it so bad, i couldn't hunt,that was in a school,surrounded by split airconditioners,computer labs etc..wasnt too upset,it played havoc with my etrac too..anyhoo! my f75 was always stable at default sens (60 on v7) and i could usually take her 80+ with no falsing/emi troubles on some occassions 95+ ..was happy with those conditions,even at 60 sens, its a deep machine,and it was quiet as a mouse...SO! i see that i can upgrade my baby to the latest dst version,dont i, for the decent sum of $159 US($227 AUS)..im thinking to myself,wow! should be able to crank the sens up to 99 at my house,like a number of people claim,and also on most sites! (HA! we,ll get to that!)..ok now the saga begins....
First off, the website that you ordered the upgrade thru, wouldnt let me order it from australia,so a frantic call to fisher, i was put in Contact with a nice guy called Juan,head of the f75 upgrades (his service and followup,is the only reason, im keeping at least a little bit under control with this situation,so far..great service from this man!), and he gave me an upgrade number to send it in to the factory and organised for me to pay for the upgrade via credit card over the phone to him, like i said,great service..
So, i pack my baby and post her off to Fist Texas for just on $100 (aust) (lol, thank god Fisher paid for the return shipping )..it gets there fairly quick,some good communication with Juan,and he lets me know its ready to be upgraded, i pay for it, and it gets back to me with about a 3 week turnaround, which i thought was fantastic, in a new, box, with the dst labels to boot,so far happy as pig in you know what... i open the box today for the first time to take her out and it was just like a brand new unit,woo hoo! (the f on my upper rod had worn off on my original,it was back now, plus i had the new 'shorty' pinpoint trigger, all good..wacked in some batteries, put it together (outside my front door at a table, where my v7 software was stable at 90 sens), here comes the first shock, its 'sparkier" (read falsing) more than an elctrician with his fingers in a power point..i thought what the heck? i went into the menu and sens was at a default of 80 (up from 60 in v7)..and it was machine 'gunning' Id's..as you can imagine, not happy at this! (i just took it outside while im typing this, put another coil on it (just so people or fisher themselves,when i contact them,say, it could be the coil..it aint,and its worse than this afternoon! it not even stable at 60 or 50 or 20 sens! )..NOW! im supposed to have this wonderful thing, called DST..Why is my machine worse now,than before i sent it in for the upgrade?..
ok,lets go back to earlier today, after getting slighty peeved that im not one of these people who can run 99 sens in my own house,in fact running worse than my previous version, i decide to go to 2 spots where i knew where the f75 was quiet and stable and at what sens levels, before i sent it in for the "UPGRADE"..both close, by,luckily, coz seriously,within 3 hours, i was ready to steam roll my new and improved f75!..
First spot was a school, with an electric fence about 20 meters from the school boundary, previously, my version 7 f75 ran nice and smooth at 80 sens (never went higher, as 80 was plenty),even up at the fence looking at the paddock with the electric fence, no problem
..SO! how did my dst (and yes, same results in 9.0 and 9.1) unit fare ? NOT VERY WELL!!! as soon as i switched it on (factory reset,dst,default sens at 80 etc) it went absolutely nuts! ok, now the conditions havent changed since the last time there with my pre dst version,but i,ll drop it down to 60..still spitting and sparking, i forced my self to hunt for 2 or so hours, but i was really hacked off, because it became blatantly obvious something wasnt right...i was getting false signals left right and centre,even down at 30 sens,and i tried everything,disc different processes etc..now heres one for you .. at one point as a lark, i switched to JE (was in default) and it seemed more stable than DE WTF?????? at this point im thinking to myself, this thing is behaving like i used to read about the original f75's, maybe worse! after 2 hours, my sanity had had it, managed only a couple of coins in between the falsies and extremely poor emi handling...
second spot,was a park where i could crank up the sens on the old 75, but nooooooooooooooooooo! same situation as b4! i then gave up (with the 75 being lucky i didnt wrap it around a tree) and went home and started thinking of my options..first,maybe i should sell it, ive got over a grand invested (and im on a invalid pension,so money tight), but i wasnt bought up to do something dirty, like pass a problem, knowingly onto someone else,so i suppose if Fisher cant walk me through how to get her stable,like my version 7, i guess she going to be sitting in the closet a lot,coz, before i upgraded, it was a killer coin machine and was part of my armoury that was used all the time, now, it drives me insane and it being so unstable, no use as a coin hunter to me... i,ll let fisher know, obviously, but i want to get some videos to show it in all its emi suppressing glory (sarcasm intended,lol)..we will see what happens, i suppose..lucky im in Australia, i suppose, coz the way it behaved straight out of the box from upgrade, if i lived in elpaso, it would be fairly lodged in the wall of first texas (joke)..thats how i feel at this moment.. i wonder if it can be downgraded? ..anyway..sorry for the rant, but i have read a lot of positive reviews on the upgrade (except maybe the 1214 ones) i was expecting more than i got..MUCH MORE....(meaning, much more emi suppression..no complaints about anything else in the process..top notch,just want to know where my dst is,and why its worse, now )
Any of you guys that went through the upgrade experience similar?
just to finish off .. even with no coil connected at 99 sens (and i seen dst models on you tube cranked at 99 and no emi or random i,ds) it still spits random TID'S occassionally (fairly frequent).. is that normal??
