What Does VCO Term Mean?

I have looked in the tesoro MDI glossary of terms and can not find it.Myself i think it means as you get the coil closer to the target the output frequency changes to a higher level,pitch?.I just what the VCO word defined.Thanks in advance.

voltage controlled oscillator, like jmaryt said. and i believe it does not change tone, but affects loudness = depth in most detectors.sam in ms

It does change pitch. Test it with a target laying on the ground. As you approach the target listen to the tone. If you want to hear a lot of pitch change, test on a flattened aluminum can.

They may use a device similar to a VCO on the Lobo to change tone or frequency of the audio output If you've never heard one, they sound like a rubber-ducky.

that is correct. if you switch out of the vco mode on the Tejon, you loose that pitch variance but what you set it to might be easier for you to hear. nice option.
